 | This is the 2nd club review I have written and I’m sorry if it appears long winded, but I like to give as much detail as possible.
We visited this club on Saturday 9 May 09 for the first time. We had been relunctant to go at first as it is quite close to home, but we were reassured by a couple (M&A) who we had met previously through Fab, that as regulars to the 101, they had never seen any ‘locals’. Sure enough, we arrived and didn’t know a sole (except M&A) which was a nice surprise. We were greeted by the very friendly Dave who registered us and explained the club ‘rules’. The admission fee for couples on a Saturday night is £25.00 and there is no membership fee which was a big bonus for us (see last paragraph). We were then left to our own devices to explore. I asked M if he would mind showing us around which of course, being the gentleman that he is, he obliged.
So on with the tour :-) Firstly there is off street car parking covered by CCTV (monitors in the bar area); the bar area is spacious and well decorated with beautiful ‘Chesterfield’ chairs and settee’s as well as stools along the bar. There is a small round ‘stage’ with a pole for the althetic types lol, there are a couple of TV's playing video's to get you in the mood and 'looped' music which played thoughout the night. The bar does not sell alcoholic drinks, but does soft drinks i.e. Coke, Oasis, water etc are avaiable all at the same price of £1.50; so if you like to have a drink you have to take your own, but the bar staff will keep your bottle(s) behind the bar and serve you when you are ready. There are two separate toilets to the side of the bar and you have to go behind the bar to go outside to the smoking area which is covered and has plenty of seating and a patio heater for when it’s cold. Back in the bar area there are stairs leading down to the splash pool / jacuzzi, lockers & sauna. The lockers are not actually lockable so we were advised to keep our valuables with us. The pool was very clean and quite warm, but for our own personal preference we would have liked it a couple of degrees warmer. When you enter and exit the pool, it is not very dignified (especially for the ladies) as you have to straddle the side of the pool which is about a foot wide, although there are grab rails above your head to help you get in and out. The bubbles were really nice (again especially for the ladies) if you sat in a certain position mmmm. The walkway around the pool is quite narrow, so it was a bit of a struggle getting undressed / dressed. Unfortunately I cannot comment on the sauna as it was not switched on. There is a further set of stairs leading back up to the opposite end of the bar area (quite narrow and steep and at the top of these stairs there is a water dispensin machine which you can use at anytime).
Another set of stairs leads from the bar area up to the bedrooms. On this floor there is a spacious landing area, again with a Chesterfield settee and chair. There are 3 bedrooms which lead directly off the landing consisting of a double bed in each room with shower and / or bath in each. All the doors are lockable and there are no ‘viewing’ windows so if you are voyeurs like us you have to stand in the doorway to watch, which to be perfectly honest, we both actually felt quite uncomfortable doing. Across the landing is a corridor which leads to a further bedroom with a double bed and shower, a unisex toilet and a big ‘play room’. There is also a 4-poster room off the ‘play room’ which appears to be completely private, but unfortunately was out of bounds. In the big play room there is a massive shaped ‘play bed’ which would comfortably fit 16-18 people. Again there is a shower and bath in this room. There is also a couple of TV’s playing video’s. The major problem we had with all the rooms, was that all the beds (with the exception of the ‘play bed’) had cloth bedding. So if a couple had been in the room before you, you knew about it, sorry but EEEWWWWW! At the end of the night Dave collected at the sheets to be laundered. The play bed was cloth, but was ‘studded’ so obviously couldn’t be changed, but it did appear to be clean.
Overall, this is a very friendly and clean club and in my opinion, more suited to laid back ‘liberated adults’ who enjoy the social side of the swinging. Even though we are quite new to the ‘scene’, we will not be returning to this particular club.
