Yorkish

Not got a bike license

Only a CBT

And I'd much rather a practice day at a Motocross track than potter about on a CG 125

I loved pottering around on my CG125 before I passed my test (Many years ago). Better to be out on the road gaining all the skills you need to pass your test than fly around a Motocross track gaining no road craft skills

Have you looked at green laning? If you had a road legal enduro type bike you can ride to / between byways and explore loads of areas.

Near Wells

Off road definitely counts. Bombing around a Moto X track is great fun.

I've only got a CBT at the moment. So can't get a decent all round bike

Be some nice secluded spots on green lane routes I would imagine

Moto X is private land, Green Lanes are public, so riding a bike not licenced on a green lane will get you into all sorts of trouble

No idea now as I did my test far to many decades ago to know the new rules but as you're older can't you ride a 125cc under x power ?

Yamaha YZF-R125 is ideal for a mix of on and off road until you can get something bigger.
