"Do you need to book?
We stayed over the road last time but the owner was a it odd."
I think you’ll find it’s changed hands now and the odd owner has retired. You can get some good deals mid week there, toilets , showers and hook up including, it’s still under Benar beach but you have to book online . |

It has changed hands but I believe the naturist section within the stone walls is no more since the new ownership. |

Heard Dennis Field opens 14th March. We will be going in our camper when the sun shines as often as possible. Easy walking distance from the site to Morfa Dyffryn naturist beach which is beautiful. We love it. There are 3 campsites next to each other. Dennis is a basic site with toilets and allows discrete naturism on the far side behind windbreaks. Its easy going with a festival atmosphere. "Denis' field is all I've ever known 😧 what's the best alternative ? I guess there won't be a nudist section anymore if the bit within the stone walls has gone ? "
Dennis field is still open, they were talking about the site across the road which has changed hands. |

"Does anyone now if its ok to use a quite generator on site " There’s no such thing as a quiet generator, only quieter ones. Noisy horrible things and should only be used in remote places if you’re on your own, not in a shared camping field.

Dennis field is good, as others aay he turns up twice a day for any new arrivals. I sometimes stay on shell island then walk down or park up for the naturist beach.
Watch out for merekats unless its your thing haha |

There are plenty of places on the main road between Barmouth and Harlech, and loads more places in those towns. There is cheap parking at the beach so probably the best plan.
I'm pretty sure there is a reasonably priced small hotel next to Dyffryn station in the village, which would be walkable to the beach.
Otherwise, you'd have to try to see if there is any lettable accommodation on the various nearby holiday parks - but as far as I know there is nothing in Benar or the Seaside Estate immediately to the south of the beach, or Shell Island to the north.
Sorry not to be more help |

"Are there any local b&bs or anything for ovenite stays "
Plenty of accommodation nearby on the various caravan parks if you fancy staying in a caravan or lodge. There will be airbnb's locally as well. |

Where abouts on the field is the naturist part? I have driven in before but unsure where to park as everyone is around the edge. Much help appreciated! Going to drive up this morning if any couples are staying there tonight? Give us a message or come and say hello x |

Yes, let's try and clear up any confusion!
Dennis Field is an open field with limited facilities (literally just water taps and portaloos). It is bounded by other sites (see below) where families often are. There is no designated areas for nudity, it's just a relaxed vibe. You turn up, pitch in an available spot and pay when asked. Tents and campers. Longer stays with caravans may need negotiating, but there are a few who have residencies on site.
Benar beach campsite is on the fields to the south of Dennis's field. This used to be owned by an eccentric, has a stone wall and used to have a section designated as a nudist camp. The stone wall is still there, but the owners are new (ish) and there is no longer a designated nudist area on the site. It's being marketed much more generally. Facilities are more comprehensive - there are showers and electrical hook-ups if needed.
Finally, there is the Dyffryn Seaside Estate to the West of Dennis's field. This is a much larger operation, with mobile and static pitches and full facilities, including a bar, shop and washing. Its more expensive and aimed at family holiday makers.
Personally, I usually use Dennis' field. It's cheaper, always has space for drop-ins, and I can usually find someone to talk to - but the downside is the bucket bath
Hopefully that helps clear things up. |

Ha! I might pop around to exchange a bottle of wine for a luxury shower
I thought I'd seen the odd caravan over the years and assumed it was a pre-arranged thing with Glynn or Dennis. I must be mistaken - probably a trailer tent or awning set-up. I stand corrected!
I hadn't realised that Dyffryn now owned Benar. Makes sense. They certainly improved the website and booking process.
Well, hopefully the info helps some folks. Nearly had it all in |

Benar campsite is an autonomous campsite , bit like the self service tills at Aldi
No staff are on site
All the booking is done online
CCTV cameras monitor peoples movements around the pitches
You are assigned a pinch and expected to park in the exact pitch.
The showers are cold or have been from my experience and the price per night is extortionate.
A campsite not for everyone but people do pitch up there. Used to be much better. New owners new rules |

Looks like my next trip will be 16th and 17th May. Hoping the weather stays fair.
Always on the look out for company - either at the beach or in the field afterwards. I can bring drinks, snacks and the odd anecdote or two. Feel free to drop me a DM if around that weekend and interested. |
