So far we are pleased to announce that SWING FEST is still going ahead 30th AUG 2020 weve worked closely with the local council to ensure our staff and consumers saftey,

so far we have had to restrict the numbers and make sum adjustments, but cos its 80% out doors in a private large open air area its looking promising.

tickets are selling well and a full refund will be given in the off chance it wont go ahead,

Pub are opening 4 july with beer gardens playing a large factor,so things are moving forward.

Hope to see you all there x x x

Knew it would not be long before the negative comments starting coming, lol what a shame.

Our aim is to make this event a safe place for like minded people, times are changing every wk. We have already agreed that we are lowering the capacity,

(JUST COS IS SAYS A 300 CAP MARQUEE DONT MEAN WE HAVE TO HAVE 300 PEOPLE ALL STOOD UNDERNEATH! Bless!)

were aware Some restrictions might have to get put in place if we are still at the stage were we are at today.

but ether way it wil go ahead and be a great event as always,

The club is working the with the council for guidance to make it is safe for everyone, Hot tubs and saunas will be open once it is safe for public swimming baths to open etc. This situation is changing every few weeks and planned events will change with them accordingly.

We can’t stop planning for the future because of what’s happening today. We have to hope that things are going to continue to improve and events like this will go ahead as planned.

Good on Hu9 for planning another awesome Swingfest for us all to look forward too.

What you are doing is flogging tickets to an event. Of course you can't guarantee the event will happen on the date stated and that's the problem.

Then people can have a refund it's simple isn't it! As far as I am aware it will go ahead the council have told me to go ahead with it as there confident with the procedures we have put in place. Hence why it's on a reputable ticket site. Why you worried about it when it doesn't concern you, like we said not forcing anyone to come. Trying to be positive and give everyone a safe event to look forward to and then there is negative people like you trying to ruin it! The tickets are fully refundable!!! Last time I am commenting back to you. If you don't like it don't come it's simple but don't ruin it for the rest of the people that do! If I was doing cash tickets with no refund I could understand! But it's all done properly! The risk assessment for the current circumstances has been done and submitted and the council are more then happy! Things will change by then anyway! Pubs weren't supposed to open until next year and there opening next week! It's in a 300 capacity marcquee outside with no sides on it! As long as the council are happy and customers feel safe then that's fine don't worry about it! Safety is paramount! Have a good day.

I guessing you're not keeping your numbers to 30 people which is the maximum group allowed atm, and the regulations also state no live music performances so unless your tribute acts are there to be just looked at, it does contravene the current restrictions.

"If, for example, the hot tubs can't open, would people still be charged full price ?"

Why are you being negative and Trolling?

Have you been to the club? Or going to the event?

The club has been working with the authorities at every step and stayed within the Law. All the are doing is advertising an event the ‘might happen’ when the restrictions have been lifted. If the authority say they have to change something or can’t go a head the club will respect that and give refunds out. Get a grip.

Hey I would like to add that being friends with these guys talking and seeing the new decor In the club we can confirm they are doing everything possible to keep everyone safe and clean. It’s people’s own choice if they want to attend but trust us it’s not been a easy ride for them and they are doing everything they possibly can to make it work

I get that you are guessing/hoping that the restrictions will be different by the time of your event, even tho the likes of butlins could guess that things could change sooner rather than later but still have cancelled music events until at least november. It's the ethics of advertising an event, which even you must agree is illegal under current legislation, in the hope that the situation changes, while Fab are doing their best to encourage people to adhere to current guidelines.

I don't know why people are being so negative. The event is 10 weeks away, by then restrictions will be different and its guaranteed the owners will be working along side the council to make sure the event is safe for everyone attending.

And like I've said, Fab have been exceptional at trying to make sure members adhere to whichever guidelines were applicable through these difficult times, so I just feel it a bit unethical at the advertising of an event that contravenes the current legislation at a date so close.

Personally for an event over 2 months away that is making it clear that a full refund will be given if guidelines at the time mean the event has to be cancelled, and is working closely with their local authority to ensure all measures are being taken to ensure strict compliance with all regulations, does not sound illegal.

The owners have made it very clear that the event is over 2 months away, and they are working with the council to make sure everything is safe and are following government guidelines. Please stop the negativity x

This section is called club discussion's,sometimes there are different opinions, accusing people of trolling because it's not what you want to hear and the OP shouting isn't a good look, some people are supportive, others are questioning why?

Just be aware alot of the swinging community are very frustrated at the moment, they are trying to comprehend eg music festivals even the smaller one's eg 100 guests etc have been cancelled this summer, some were outside too, so no different and so many other restrictions

Yet a swingfest may be going ahead?

Yes rules may change by 30th August, alot of the questions asked are valid,as people are looking at the rules at present, its not negativity its reality

If it goes ahead brilliant or it needs to be cancelled nearer the time, money will be returned

Just keep calm and have hope nobody has a crystal ball and can predict the future

"You do know 'atm' means ' at the moment' don't you, no one seems to want to answer the actual question I'm asking "

Live music is currently not illegal, I believe it depends on the location and venue etc and whether it contravenes current restrictions is what makes it “illegal”. I know of some residents of a close who clubbed together to hire a local musician to play a gig on their street for them, where they sat in chairs at the end of their respective driveways to listen and singalong etc. That was not illegal yet still live music.

Wow so many negative comments.

We bought our tickets as soon as they were released to help support our local club. Why shouldn’t people have something to look forward to.

Even if half the facilities aren’t available it won’t matter . It’s about getting out and interacting and making friends for the future with some live music in the background. And for a very small amount of money.

There are plenty of places selling tickets for events in July and August . The email we received clearly said refunds would be available if cancelled.

We have bought our tickets and can’t wait for the event.

Even if the festival is only the marquee with music acts we will be happy for the social side while obeying what ever regulations are in place at the time.

We are booked for a 2 day stay in Hull also to make a mini weekend of it

A quote from the guidelines for reopening venues.

"At this time, venues should not permit live performances, including drama, comedy and music, to take place in front of a live audience. This is important to mitigate the risks of aerosol transmission - from either the performer(s) or their audience."

Exactly.... "AT THIS TIME" The event is 2 months away. If by then it cannot go ahead it won't. What is the problem? 26 years I've worked in the entertainment sector and believe me I've read the 45 page document! My livelihood depends on it.

Everything the club is doing is by the book. What is your actual issue with an event 2 months away?

You Quoted “guidelines”

Understanding the Difference Between Guidelines vs Policies

Simply put, guidelines are general, non-mandatory recommendations. Policies are formalized statements that apply to a specific area or task. Policies are mandatory – employees who violate a policy may be disciplined.

The event is 9 weeks away. Everything can change between now and then, for the better or worse. What is wrong with planning for the better? If the event gets cancelled everyone will get a full refund. The club and owners are not going to risk their reputation and business. The are working for everyone’s safety and enjoyment.

I think it’s good for us all to be looking forward, after all we can’t stay like this forever. There’s got to be those first steps and if the OP are being guided by the council then alls great (they won’t be doing any other and putting their business at risk).

Who knows where we will be at in a few months time (personally I’m hoping it’s gunna be better than where we are now!!!)

Surely it’s better to be looking forward and having some positivity in this world. After all, us swingers are supposed to be a happy bunch

"And like I've said, Fab have been exceptional at trying to make sure members adhere to whichever guidelines were applicable through these difficult times, so I just feel it a bit unethical at the advertising of an event that contravenes the current legislation at a date so close."

I feel disappointed with myself for even replying to this negativity. Online Trolls get their satisfaction from the replies they get and the arguments they generate giving themselves a boost to their own sense of self importance and self worth that is obviously lacking in their real lives away from a keyboard. We don’t personally know the people organising this event but it is obvious from looking at their profile, statements they have made and comments from people who do actually know them, that they are taking an optimistic and positive approach to the future whilst maintaining regard to any possible Covid regulations that may be in force at the time of the event. As well as swinging obviously being their lifestyle it is also their business and as with any business, failing to plan is planning to fail.

Hats off to them for taking this approach and we wish them every success but if regulations have not altered sufficiently to allow the event to proceed, at least they tried and deserve all the support they are receiving from the majority of people on this post.

Some clubs have already been forced to take the decision to permanently close and the trolling of those that are trying to prepare and survive in what could be a very different future is shameful.

Oh my oh my. Get a fucking grip. Its in 2 months time not next week. No rules are being broken at all. Things are changing weekly and getting more relaxed. Nobody knows what will change from now to the end of August.

Everyone is going to get the virus in the end. No escape, regardless. If your someone at risk then don't go and ensure your own safety. Thats a personal choice. Ive had the fucker and it isn't nice but I'm alive and well and looking forward to finally seeing people properly again.

People need something to look forward to and if all goes ahead then fantastic and round of applause to the club for risking a lot of money putting something together that may end up being cancelled. Some clubs physically can't do anything and have closed for good which is a real shame. Thank you to HU9 for the option.

Crikey that was a long thread to read!!

I'm sure that everything has been gone through with the Council - quite honestly they're pretty much killjoys in Hull ( I can say that seeing as that's we're we are)so anything not dotted or crossed they would have objected to! Trust us!!

I'm pretty much convinced that just prior to the event everything will be reviewed & risk assessed again and anything not up to par or against govt guidance will be ruled out

We're not a HU9 members - we don't play close to home but we hope everyone who goes has a great time doing lots of legal things!

"How is it illegal??

You are advertising live music, so under current restrictions, is it or is it not illegal for live music to be played?

So any act advertising any future gigs and selling tickets for it is doing it illegally? I’m pretty sure if you go on to ticketmaster or see tickets etc, they’re all selling tickets for future events. How is this different?

Because they are not so close time wise to our current guidelines, but feel free to answer MY question after reading the governments 45 page document."

I was given free tickets (for NHS staff) to live music a group concert in May 2020 and this concert is happening in Nov 2020 how is this different

"How is it illegal??

You are advertising live music, so under current restrictions, is it or is it not illegal for live music to be played?"

Lol I suggest you contact the Performing Rights Society and read the documention on performers rights.

Music venue's can purchase a licence easily online for playing recorded music(so that covers djs, jukeboxes or from a device that can playback recorded music).

Live music will be down to the performers descretion through a verbal or written contract with the venue or event organiser.

By your logic I couldn't go out in my garden and play the drums as I would need a license?

As for copyright that is down to the artist performing not the venue or organiser.

So yes they can advertise live music.

You are advertising live music, so under current restrictions, is it or is it not illegal for live music to be played?

Lol I suggest you contact the Performing Rights Society and read the documention on performers rights.

Music venue's can purchase a licence easily online for playing recorded music(so that covers djs, jukeboxes or from a device that can playback recorded music).

Live music will be down to the performers descretion through a verbal or written contract with the venue or event organiser.

By your logic I couldn't go out in my garden and play the drums as I would need a license?

As for copyright that is down to the artist performing not the venue or organiser.

So yes they can advertise live music.

"

Hear hear. Its amazing some people just don't get it and want to be so negative. Great post.

I always got taught whether its in business or other to never overpromise and underdeliver... that way you create a rod for your own back...

maybe it would be wise of the organisers to probable answer this question before people rush and book....

how late are you going to leave making or announcing decisions with regards to the events if the situation doesn't change enough in the direction you are hoping...

I think that would be a genuine place to assure the potentially event goers whilst answering a lot of the queries from the naysayers....

I think the "event subject to change" weivers at this time for this incident would be unfair for people to lean back on....

I think most of the people that have purchased tickets are well aware of the current pandemic situation and will happily accept a refund or a change in date should any changes in guidlines occur.

At present if the event is advertised to proceed then that means the organisers have contacted the relevant council bodies and gained permission for an event on the specific date.

The current date advertised is irrelevant as the event will be subject to change and will refer to the point above about a refund or date change.

As the event is taking place on private property the only guidlines that come into play are the goverment guidlines on social distancing, which could very well change again before the date of the event.

It would only become an illegal issue if the event breaks guidline rules on that specific date.

The event hasn't taken place.

Advertising for future events is not illegal.

People who are 'concerned'...

Go back to read the date 30, AUGUST.

The planners have expressed multiple times in their defence, that as set rules are changing with covid updates, then so is what's available.

Best wait and see on that date above, how they totally plan out their event.

I doubt very much anything illegal will happen.

Now give these organisers a break!

Wish I could go, but my financial situation is dire atm x

Hope your event is successful x

Exactly, so most of the couples, that are attending will be able to partake in in some sort kinky fun within the club with each other, without breaking any rules.

But its only couples from the same household that will be playing together on thier own.

I fail to see how that breaks current guidelines?

I can see the concern by people and why they making negative assumptions, however like the other clubs that are opening around the country, the club in question has already stated it will have safety measures in place for the time of the event.

Like somebody has said, the event hasn't taken place so nothing illegal has happened.

If the the government guidance changes back to lockdown, then the event organisers have aready stated they will offer a full refund to those who purchased tickets.

Just been listening to Chris Whitty the Governments advisor on public health and Sir Patrick Vallance (who has more letters after his name than the railway st in North Wales). And the restrictions and advice about people in large groups and the current regulations around that and that the virus is a long long way from going away. And then to my utter dispare and disappointment I read about this event.

Now don't get me wrong we both enjoy a good festival like this one and have been to a few in the past and hopefully will be doing so in the future when the red light turns to green.

Also it comes across when someone types full sentences and statements in CAPITAL LETTERS that in speech that would be raising a voice in a sort of ranting way.

We wish this event EVERY POSSIBLE success. It’s a question of damned if you do damned if you don’t. The swinging community is the most tolerant, accepting & safety conscious. To simply have a social event - ensuring the government guidelines are followed is to be applauded. It’s about choice - everyone is entitled to an opinion & their own personal choice. Perhaps don’t castigate an event because your opinion is negative. Let’s not be the one to cast the first stone !!! Bruce xx

I think all those that are attending are aware of the current situation.

Everyone will follow the advice and guidance set by the goverment on the date of the event.
