"100 clubs around Europe may have all those and more however they don't have our local councils and busy bodies trying to close down clubs or police them in to non existence. Also we have been to clubs in Europe and the States and true the big clubs are great but they have a completely different set up regards pricing and i just don't see a couple being happy to pay over £100 for one night even if it does include a decent buffet and drinks. As for single men at the clubs in Germany I have been to if you can get in at all then you are looking at £150 for the evening. Unless the way in which this lifestyle is perceived by the authorities & press changes then i can't see super clubs opening in the UK. " We would agree with most of the above, but the prices you quote are right at the top end rather than the average for Germany. We have visited around 20 different clubs in Germany and the average for a Saturday night is around 60 euro (50 quid) for a couple and 100 euro (85 quid) for a single guy. All the clubs we have been to include buffet and free bar, also many offer better deals midweek. One excellent club (Schickeria Dortmund) we go to does a Wednesday night all inclusive at 40 euro for couples and 80 euro for singles with no single limit and very well attended. Even the most expensive we know of for couples (Club Casablanca & Die Eule) are just below the 100 quid mark and the most expensive for single guys we can find (Caesars Palace) is 130 euro. Some clubs here are couples only, however the majority are single guy friendly, although quite often with a limit on numbers. We think the German (and Dutch) clubs are pretty good value especially when compared to some of the French and Spanish clubs we have been to | |||

We think the German (and Dutch) clubs are pretty good value especially when compared to some of the French and Spanish clubs we have been to " We would add to that very fair and accurate assessment above that, while there is probably around 100 or super clubs in Europe, if that is what one wishes to call them (And they don't all cost around the £100 mark to get in by any means) there is an overall total of clubs in Europe that comes to well over 1000, if you include the BDSM clubs on top of that, its almost double that. Just like over here their clubs come in all shapes and sizes but the difference in Europe is that space isn't the premium cost that it is over in the UK and property / rents are much cheaper (Cheaper still when the scene took off) and they have also established good clubs way longer than us, before we got even the most basic ones off the ground in the UK. We think to go to a good club over here, its hard to spend less than £80 for a night out (Of course there are exceptions and it depends how local you are and if there's hotels involved etc) but if you have to travel anywhere, which we do frequently then the cost of travel, food, hotel plus entry and drink (either on the bar or at the supermarket) still all factors in. That's why different clubs have different appeal and part of that appeal for many is also based on cost. But they have all the same range of clubs and prices in Europe, they just have more of the clubs at the top end. We also don't believe because of our eating and drinking culture, that the all inclusive price with food and drink would work over here. People have tried restaurants in clubs over here before, and they all didn't work (Snacks or a good buffet seem to be what is required and that's fine)An inclusive bar and never ending buffet would probably ultimately create a different atmosphere in the UK and probably not for the better. Their clubs in part represent their way of culture as well. That said, if there was a disneyland of clubs in the UK somewhere, we have to disagree about people willing to pay for it, because there are thousands of couples that go to clubs abroad where they pay the same or more for the experience and not always to a warm weather country either (Though clubs there are doing well and on the increase) The clubs that offer the most over here - Adfabs, Xtasia, La Chambre, Chams, VA, Liberty Elite to think of but a few - are all among the most popular and the range of facilities they offer and subsequently the people they attract is part of the reason why. At all of those clubs you will never find everyone is local, many people will come much further because of the experience given by them. The smaller clubs that do equally well, probably have one factor that helps them more than anything else - good hosting, which makes a primary difference to a venue regardless of size. We doubt Ourplace4fun would be anywhere near as sucessful as it has been without Gregg and Lisa (And their worthwhile holiday cover) the same for Atlantis with Cat and Tagg, a more recent favourite club of ours. When you really feel that your hosts care about you and your night out, and that is also reflected so much in the club, even when space is not so grand, that makes a massive difference. We would take good hosts over grumpy hosts any day of the week. It's never nice to go a club and have to hear all the latest laundry. You just want to have a pleasent and relaxing time. So Europe does have alot of offer, but you know what, the UK has some of the best club hosts in the world and it still has some great venues, and they are looking to the Europe and elsewhere, taking things on board and getting better and better all the time. | |||

You are right when you talk about cultural differences. While the better clubs in Germany and Holland tend to work to a similar format, Spanish clubs couldn't be more different and ultimately work out more expensive for much less.
Most Spanish clubs don't open until 11pm (probably because of the Spanish generally eating very late) and don't really get going until around 1am (we regularly drive home in daylight).
It's usually 50 euros entrance for a couple including one or two free drinks then you will pay 6 or 7 euro per drink after that, so it's quite easy to spend 70 or 80 euro just in the club. Add the cost of a meal beforehand (they rarely if ever do food) maybe 30 euro for a couple, and it's easy to spend over 100 for the night. It makes Fun4two (generally regarded as the best club in Europe) look very good value at around 100 euro all in with a buffet that would put many restaurants to shame.
My experience of UK clubs is a bit out of date but I (Rob) used to be a regular in Cupids (in the days of Mary, Glen, Tony, and Louise) with an ex GF and we visited quite a few others in the North West. That was over 10 years ago so I would think (hope) that the UK clubs have moved forward a bit since then.
Like in every area of life there will be some owners with a progressive outlook and others will be stuck in the past, but we both feel that the future of swinger clubs is looking bright. Only problem is we will probably be too old to enjoy them. | |||

"The Spanish clubs we have visited are all around the Alicante area, and with the exception of the now defunct Bilitis and the summer Wednesday evening BBQ's at Cupido's there isn't much good in that area of Spain, although we are looking forward to trying Gran Canaria for the first time later this month. Our experience of French clubs is only at Cap d'Agde and while they are fine for a wild holiday week, we wouldn't want to be regulars in any of them (well apart from the foam party's at Le Glamour) Most of the clubs we visit in Germany are in our area (Dusseldorf, Essen, Dortmund) but we have visited a few others down toward Luxemburg and as far east as Berlin and Dresden. We are quite lucky here having quite a decent selection of what some would call "super clubs" almost on our doorstep, even Fun4two is only a couple of hours away.
