Socials vs Clubs

Question:

Is the current trend of attending Socials potentially killing off our lifestyle clubs?

Over the last 12 months their seems to have been an explosion of lifestyle socials all over the country which is great for us and others, especially with the cost of living crisis that is ongoing, and the plus side to this is, they are mostly held on weekends, most are free to attend, they run guest lists ensuring the right kind of people turn up, they create private chat groups, some do charge you a nominal fee (£5 to £10) to attend to cover there costs, some are held in private bar areas, etc, etc.

The cost-of-living crisis must also affect many clubs financially, but if many people are now turning to socials as the new “night out” are we in danger of loosing our clubs?

We are curious to know what others think.

There's a social at a club.

In my opinion, the organised socials help get to know people in the lifestyle on a more neutral grounds, without any pressure. Most happen in a public venue where you need to "behave". I don't believe they are any threats to clubs, at least not to good clubs. Some people might just prefer to have a "friendly face" when they go to a club, someone they met at an organised social. Going to a swingers club without knowing anyone there could be very daunting.

Clubs operate most days and nights. Socials are only a few times a year. I don't think socials will stop people going to clubs.

A lot of clubs are still a cheap night out if you can bring your own booze. If you drink. Particularly for couples , ladies it's cheap to get in. So I don't think economics will have to much of an impact.

I think socials, if done well, add a really nice dynamic , people find it easier to chat and certainly for singles they are a nice way to meet people in a more genuine normal way . I like a dance as well..and have been out dancing in a big group after a few socials .. ,. In summary I don't think they will eat into club revenues ...tho like everything in the hospitality sector I'm sure clubs might struggle.

We can only talk from the club side of things as we’ve never attended and organised social .

We go to a club once a month and numbers have been increasing over the last year. We’ve noticed lots of new faces. A growing number of newbie groups attending, 6 friends giving it a go.

Whether they become regulars, time will tell

Some people choose to do both on the same night, attending the social in the early evening and then travelling to the local club to finish off the night with some sexy fun.
