I have mixed opinions on Xtasia, went a few times with the ex mrs but not been for a while. There was a particular member of staff that did the place no favours, very sleazy chap that often spoiled play, but the rest of the staff were always brillant.Overall it's a good club and I'd recommend a visit, but I wouldn't go as far as to say it's the best club in the midlands

I dont think it benefits the scene at all to have pissing contents between the patrons of different clubs here. Try to be objective, promote and by all means love your club but things like is the BEST CLUB IN XXX AREA when there are several in said area will just lead to bitterness and angst.

This isnt a comment about any of the above as we have not been to either.

Both clubs offer something different to each other.

Embrace and respect both, it's not worth making a big deal about which one is better or worse.

But there are many excellent clubs that are classed as being in the Midlands as its an utterly massive expanse of country, from Atlantis to Liberty elite and beyond.

Love your club but focus more on the club and what you love about it rather than putting the rest down (which is what you're doing).

We are regulars at 2 clubs and have a favourite but that is just a personal preference and recognise that neither is better, just different.

A thread like this can only end up as a pissing contest because the opening post is, in my opinion, as provocative as it is emotive.

London

The Xtasia Phukt 2 event, will probably be the clubbing event of the year, if the guest list and the last one is anything to go by, and Xtasia is, we will say better than good, when its got a good crowd, we would say it's amazing.

There are some clear demographics in the make up of types of people who go to clubs on the scene and while there is a huge percentage of people who find music and dancing being integral to their night out (And we count ourselves among those) there is easily an equal number where that is really not important to them at all.

And even though we personally still rate Xtasia higher than some of the other clubs in the area, alot of people on our team prefer Chams, and who are we to disagree with them? (Our number one choice, is not their number one choice) that's what they like. Some of them, like both clubs equally and it just depends what their in the mood for at the time, it changes. Alot of people came to swinging through the rave scene, so those people will love this kind of event, but alot of people didn't come via that route at all.

We just did the CLUBS vote again with the team for the top 5 clubs in the UK, we've done this three years running now, and Xtasia has always been in the top 5, it was number 4 in 2011 (joint with Infusions)but everyone who reviewed it said it needed changes. Fortunately Paul and Flirt were looking out for the bat signal and arrived to take over and in our view, massively improved the club in every way they could, and still continue to do so.

In 2012, it was still 4th place, this time joint with Abfabs.

In 2013, it was joint 2nd place, this time with Atlantis.

The big leap in votes was because almost everyone on the team made a point of going back to the club to see the changes, and some on the team who had never been decided to give it a go for the first time, so about 80% went to this particular club. A couple of people didn't like it (They didnt hate it, it just wasn't for them) but mostly the praise was universal.

Its probably more accurate however to say that the 'Phukt 2' event is the thing that is the most talked about on the scene, which Xtasia happens to be hosting, and this event is drawing in large numbers, proving that there is a large crowd who want good music, not just good sex. Also credit has to go to the organisers of this event, and not just the club itself. Those people who went to the last one will remember quite clearly how much of an effort the organisers actually made to move around and socialise with people. This is really key. (Ie, NOT, thanks for coming, cheers for the cash, fuck off)

Any club is only as good as the people who attend, and Xtasias one weakness, if it has any, is it does need a good number through the door to look busy because unlike most venues, it has alot of space to fill. A club with alot of space however is NOT a negative thing, we predict the scene will grow and grow, and there will be more music orientated events on the scene of this type.

We have no doubt Xtasia will continue to be sucessful and Paul and Flirt, who are amazing hosts (All the best clubs are run by amazing hosts) will continue to work hard to make it even better.

But any list including ours is subjective. Not everyone on our team can go to every club in the country, but we make a point of making them go to clubs they wouldn't go to normally and we dont let them review their own local club either for obvious reasons of bias. No club is ever the best for everyone. If you took a different 50 plus people to vote for their top 5 clubs, you would have a different running order every time and certainly while we are willing to bet that some of the clubs would be in the top 5, that in our top 5, we very much doubt that they would be in the same order.

The good thing is that alot of the best clubs in the UK are now all striving really hard to be better, you only have to look at the number of changes overall at the main contenders in the last 5 years. Chams, VA, Liberty, Atlantis, Club F, Tease II, Infusions, LC, to name but some have all made improvements and changes to their venues. This is nothing but a good thing for the scene, long may that continue.

For anyone thinking of opening one, aim high with your standards, or it simply isn't worth your effort at all.

Of one thing, there can be NO DOUBT - We know the event on Saturday, will like the last one, be something that will go down in swinging history.

not for the playing, but purely for the singing.

We went to _tasia for the Halloween night and then last Saturday - 23rd. We went back due to the great promotion - something that I thought would make it busy. It wasn't - only about 30 couples in on a Saturday night. For a club of its size it felt really empty. Play was limited.

One of the reasons for this might be the two big events coming up - in rapid succession. We can't make either - so will never know.

On both visits - the lounge / chill out area has been like a ghost town - which seems a shame since there's no big play area (all the play rooms just a little too small).

Our first choice is chams - but they don't appear to have the big nights or promotions (maybe don't need them), 2nd choice _tasia and then atlantis - where we didn't feel particularly welcomed, did feel followed and the staircase was damned cold.

Yet to try adventures - but will do soon !

We too hate these discussions as they only end up dividing us all. Personally glad we have two of the best clubs in the West Midlands pretty damn close to each other, so visitors can get to both easily over a weekend, and see what they think of each. Both are very different and offer completely different experiences. About time we sat down with Nick and sorted out a weekender ticket

Handling a couple of the comments though, yes the Sleaze has long gone, first thing we did. We now have a cinema downstairs rather than a video room. Its not commercial spam, as posted by a club member, who we love lots, lol, but don't really wish for posts like this as mentioned a few times in reviews.

We agree the club is so large it can feel quite empty when we have anything less than 100 in, a number most clubs would kill for most evenings. We actually find the quieter nights can end up being better for those who do make the effort. There is one single lad on here who comes along regularly, and always asks how many people are in at the door. I normally tell him and he then makes up his mind if he's coming in or not. Friday nights I normally give him something like 30 couples in and 20 guys. The other night he turned up on our new Weds night really early and I told him only 4 people in. He nearly walked away, but for some reason turned around and came in. The two couples in, plus him had a great night, with no other singles as competition! Think that is the actual answer to the OP...it all depends on the people, on the night, to create these memories you refer to. One or two people can change the entire outcome of a night, where ever you are.

Definitely not seen anything like sleaze to put us off - and has always been welcoming. Bar prices are great - and on busier nights the dance floor full of sexy women a definite draw ! On a busy night like Saturday or next weekend - just where will everyone play ? If either event held at chams then question would be where would everybody dance and socialise.

Doesn't appear to be the Atlantis / adventures rivalry or new liaisons / decadence stuff that's going on in Rochdale (that overflows in forums).

Xtasia has made loads of improvements under the new owners since the doldrum years.

It's ideal that we have two great clubs in Birmingham, one a towel/sauna club and the other a nightclub type venue, so it suits whatever people prefer, or if you fancy a change. And not forgetting Private Club and Retro, both towel clubs (granted they don't meet some peoples' definition of swinging, but they do meet our definition of shagging).

Why Atlantis and Adventures are the same type of club I don't know. I would have thought a contrast would be more welcome.

The last thing we'd ever want to do is upset and or divide anyone. Stupidly we posted this when we knew that in all fairness there would be people who disagree which is entirely up to them. We where simply giving our favourite club a shout out as it suits what we're looking for more then others as everyone is different, but we would never not go to any club as all the clubs we are members of we like and can't say a bad word against.

Thinking now it wasn't really worth posting, but we don't regret doing it and stand by our opinion as we're entitled to do so, just as you are all entitled to reply with your.

Happy swinging everyone! From proud members of ALL the clubs we attend x

"The last thing we'd ever want to do is upset and or divide anyone."

Don't let people wind you up. There's been "tribalism" over these two clubs for as long as they have been open. Everyone thinks that their favourite club is the best, and so it goes on. Just like West Bromwich Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers fans won't ever agree on which team is best (even if WBA are in the Premier League lol) you won't get agreement between the die hards of the these clubs either.

The funny thing is, the number of people who are in one club on one day of the week and then at the other on another day...Kind of proves that both clubs are good and both are popular.

Also have to disagree about Xtasia being "most talked about". There's usually plenty of "Chams on Wednesday", "Chams on Friday" "Chams in the Afternoon" etc threads running on the front page of this forum, so one in the eye there for anyone complaining about Xtasia getting hyped up for a change by this thread.

Fabs has always been a friend of Chams (just have a look at the list of suggestions for how to update your status's) so "daring" to "big-up" what some perceive to be the "other lot" is bound to rattle some cages.

It was a tongue in cheek comment, get over yourselves.

No-one has 'rejected' us, in a club how the hell do you know what age anyone is by just looking at them? And that is the point.

We certainly have no idea what all this Midlands club rivalry is all about, it doesn't exist in the North West and the clubs are closer together.

Swinging is supposed to be inclusive. And aLl the clubs and people involved have a part to play.
