If there were a new Swingers club in Barnsley SYork
Jump to: Newest in thread
Question to all you lovely swingers who go to clubs up in the North of the country.
If there were a new swingers club/adult venue bulit in Barnsley, would you visit?
I'm looking for some feedback and was looking in to may be opening a club up in Barnsley?
What do you think? Would any of you lovely people from Barnsley object or use the facilities?

I`m not from the area at all and am highly unlikely to visit.
You`re not that far from Leeds and with pretty good road connections. With one good club in Leeds and a second due shortly, is there the customer base for it? The only chance you would have would be if the two clubs in Leeds offered something similar and yours could be different. For example, the main reason, apart from bloody good management, that Xtasia had done so well with Chameleons not that far away, is that the clubs are chalk and cheese in what they offer. Do your homework and find out if there`s an alternative market. |

Tough call
Lots of hard work building up your client bank , lots of money to set it up, lots of unsocial hours
Good luck if you do
We shall probably make a visit ! |

[These questions were asked by someone else on a very similar thread, and I think apply every time I see a post like this!]
Do you have a business plan?
Have you looked into licences?
Venues?
Have you researched what the wider swinging community wants? (Fab is a very small part of the swinging community. The forums even smaller... You're not going to get a wide opinion just asking here)
What is your experience of swing clubs - have you done your personal market research, as a single and as a couple? Your experience of running a business? (even more specifically, in the hospitality industry)
Does the area need another club, if there are others nearby? |

Being from Barnsley and with it not being so large a town, highly doubt we would bother going. We are right in the middle of Sheffield and Leeds clubs, and within an hours drive of many more really don't think it would do so well to be honest. |

"We thought that Chameleons used to have a club in Barnsley but it was a good while ago, "
Chameleons had a branch of the Greenhouse in Barnsley (same company) and it was in the throws of being opened as a joint gay club/swinger`s club when nearby premises in the same block caught fire and damaged Chameleons premises beyond saving at the same time! |

From memory, they had a club of sorts but was many years ago. It was a gay sauna which they used as a swinging club on occasional evening (Friday and Saturday I think).
I went a couple of times and it was pretty much dead and hence didn't stay open that long.
There was also one in Huddersfield (A & K or something like that) which didn't seem to stay open that long.
To the OP, unless you are going to offer something significantly different to Quest and La Chambre IMO you will be wasting a lot of time and money. |

A lot of these sort of threads pop up..I'm not sure if the area 'needs' another club to be honest. If you were to do it, you would need to throw a load of money at it to make it totally amazing so it stands out from all the rest; even then you have a huge job on your hands.
Clubs are money pits, so you need a shit load of money upfront and then don't expect to make anything decent for a couple of years; even then, it won't be the pot of gold people think. You will work around 80 hours a week, sometimes more and if you make the minimum wage, you're doing ok!
Clubs are definitely a labour of love and nobody should go into it wanting to make money, as you will be fed up of it within a few months if that were the case.
So, do your due diligence first and make sure your club is needed/wanted in the area and then sit in front of your licensing guys and see if they will entertain another club.
If you go ahead and you want to chat in private about setting up, then please feel free

A&Gs A former pub. Went there once as a couple I`m friends with held their wedding anniversary party there. Apart from one guy who came down to the bar with a towel on you wouldn`t have known it was a swinger`s club as all of the play was concentrated upstairs! Had it not been for our party of 20 or so the club would have been dead, and this was on a Saturday night when the club had "got going" Think it shut for good about six months later! |
