Arranged a social on my meet today at a local pub, someone who was blocked from our profile turned up there because they could see our status on local updates and/or who is online now.
It was someone my partner knew and didn’t particularly want to interact with, he had already messaged and told him that as we like to keep different parts of our lives separate we would not meet with him and blocked him.
Thankfully he didn’t cause any issue but got us thinking what is the point, other than they can’t look at our profile?
I do feel like this could be a safety issue for single women on here in particular |

You should be careful what you post on your status updates. Realistically, they are public information and anyone can see them, even if they implemented what you're asking for, people just evade the blocks with new accounts anyway.
With all due respect, I think if you're posting "I'm going to be at x at 9pm" type status updates you have to shoulder the risk it goes badly, because nobody else is going to do it for you. |

Agreed that if someone is blocked they shouldn't be able to see your status update. However if you put on your status where you're going to be, people who aren't on your block list and you haven't invited could turn up. Also many have a second profile, you could block one profile and they could view you on their second profile. |

Why would you post that information publicly? Anyone could turn up. It doesn't just compromise your privacy but that of whoever you're meeting. |

Clearly still learning!!
Thanks everyone for your input, lessons have been learned, no one got hurt and it was still an interesting and fun experience with a possible new experience to come in the near future.
It mainly shocked us that people who were blocked can still see other information about you (us) as we’re didn’t know or obviously would not have gone down the route we did. |

If you block someone they can’t see or interact with your profile at all. So no they can’t see your status updates, etc..
this person likely created a second profile and that’s how they can still see everything that you post publicly. |

Not true. If they counter block you, which is easily done, they can then see your status updates as it shows on the block list.

If you block someone they can’t find you, so they won’t be able to block you as well |

There are ways you can still find someone, the forums, past messages, hotlist etc so counter blocking is easy.

I am fairly close and saw your status giving exact time and name of pub. I thought at the time that is risky. Blocking has it's benefits but doesn't hide everything - ditto Forum posts and meet listings. |
