The Allées down near the sea are the sunniest, that being Mer, Plage, Dune and Nature, as they lack trees. However Oltra are charging extra for them this year. The rest of the campsite vary according to the tree density, and the pruning regime. In June you should be able to find a pitch that is not in any shade.

Agde, France

You'll have to decide if you want to be nearer to the beach or clubs/bars/shops.

Take a look at their map and you'll see what I mean.

It's a very large campsite with around 2500 pitches. It's all walkable of course, but nearer the sea will normally be busier. Which means more people walking past your pitch. That may or may not be important to you.

Early June will give you chance to be there without too many other campers and if you don't like the pitch you're on you can always ask the office to move to a better one, subject to bookings. Don't just move without asking, they get upset..!

Enjoy your stay..

It can be VERY hot in June - 40c last year - I’d look for at least some shade

Shade is definitely good and trees are handy for washing line to dry towels etc. We like middle of campsite as an easy walk at night when returning from "sin city" and not far from beach. If you are looking for hot areas, dunes being beach to left of campsite can be relied upon

Cheshire, Grantham west Midlands and France.

The pitches ain't great to be honest, more so if your camping. I got to my allocated pitch and there was someone on it last year as it had some shade so they gave me another that was already full .I went back and asked if I could have the pitch next to where they originally put me. Eventually after security couldn't move the occupants they gave me the one next door but I had to wait 2 hrs in extreme heat which wasn't pleasant. I met a lovely couple from fab who had a caravan and they reserved the same pitch every year next to the beach they had the same issue when they arrived with someone on there pitch. The guy on reception explained people we moving pitches for more shade due to hot weather. Bad start but a great holiday in the end. Enjoy cap .

FRANCE and various UK

Pitches closest to the sea can get more affected by mozzies. We discovered that a couple of years back

We're going to Rene Oltra as part of our France trip. Do you just pick a pitch when you get there or are they allocated?

You can book online or choose when you arrive. July and August get very busy.

Probably best to book for that period. Anything over 7 metres would need a bit of thought when choosing a pitch.

They will allocate you a pitch if you turn up with an American style unit with 10 bedrooms and a jacuzzi !!!

The illegal 'taxis' cost a similar amount to the genuine guys running a business, so don't see any advantages.
