"The joys of the EU
The penalties for speeding!"
Our French friends blame us for the number of new cameras now. Reckons the French government saw how much the British government were making and wanted some for themselves.
I blame the Dutch for inventing them in the first place.
I have a theory. My French license starts off with 12 points and these are then deducted. As it gets low I wonder if I can go to England, get caught speeding and have points added on? This should work in reverse for a UK licence over here...😁 |

I’ve had loads over the years … I’ve never paid one .
They can’t assume that the driver of a vehicle is you.
That has first to be established.
So unless it has changed and they are firstly asking if the registered keeper was the driver don’t bother. |

Round here is a tourist area, the cops don’t bother with radar guns or breathalysers. But if you were involved in an accident through speeding or over the limit, they’d lock you up and throw away the key… a deterrent in itself!
But they do occasionally put by the side of the road “caméras de chantier”, big concrete blocks with cameras inside them, evidently autonomous and linked remotely to a central database. Within LITERALLY hours, someone will have sprayed paint all over the glass, Banksy eat your heart out.
They’ll be removed, cleaned and installed somewhere else - by Hiab of course - and it starts all over again. And if they’re stupid enough to put this concrete camera anywhere near a ditch, that’s where it’ll be within hours. Don’t ask me how they manage it, but Vive La France!
In your case though, pay the fine…. |
