Does anyone regularly go on holiday abroad on their own? I'm considering going to benidorm myself, I'm confident enough to do it and happy in my own company if I don't meet people but I'm interested in other people's experiences

I've never swung on a holiday, usually go with a group of friends and family but I'm definitely up for going solo and seeing how it goes

I enjoyed a couple of singles organised holidays through an online company.

Met some nice people and had a great week with good company as my first solo holiday

I’m on holiday to Tenerife in Sept on my own .. I enjoy my own company , enjoy a quiet drink , will socialise with randoms if I feel the need , run , walk , excursions all sorts … I’m actually looking forward to it …

OP - Benidorm is awesome too !! Easily a place to go alone , nightlife is so immersive - however my experience was pre Covid :/

I love holidaying solo, it's a funny thing that when I am on my own, others tend to approach me, especially other nationalities, more readily than when I am with someone. Very often if I'm sat at a table by myself, others will ask if they can join me.

I've got some holiday booked for the end of Aug,I wanted to leave the country but couldn't and gave up on that idea and now what?lol

Is there any good places within uk to go solo and have fun?

Solo holidays to Canaries and all that like make sense obviously, but I don't know personally if there's anything happening in the uk so I thought to ask ?

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

I holiday on my own and never fail to chat to other people. People are generally very engaging with singletons and sitting alone in bars often gets people joining or inviting me to join them xx

Been to Benidorm Benalmadena PDI amongst other places too

Looking at Benalmadena in September and PDI October or November

Love it

Japan is cool to do solo because there are so few other "gaijins" it's easy to strike up conversations, especially if you stay in hostels.

Plus Japan is an incredibly safe country.

Love holidaying alone. Travelled loads of places and being alone opens all sorts of doors to all sorts of experiences.

Jump in and if you’re only in Spain you can always fly home if you hate it.. .. but Benidorm is great and you won’t have time to be bored

They're ok, just so long as you aren't claustrophobic!

Try to stay a night in a ryokan too, a traditional Japanese inn that features tatami-matted rooms

Done a ton of traveling both round the world trips on my Todd, met hundreds of folks been to dozens of their weddings stags etc .. but now in my mid forties I really would prefer a travel partner (woman) as the companionship im feeling is more valuable than the independence now. However if this meant to itchy travel feet don't get exercised then solo it would have to be ..

I've flown around the world a couple of times as well as travelled extensively and much of it alone. But I always find people that I connect with, often share some of the trip and keep in touch - I've had many trips staying with people I've met.

I can't recommend solo travelling enough. It breaks you out of habits, introduces new ideas and experiences, gets you meeting completely different people who you'd not when travelling with others instead. And it can be good for your sex life too

Great points (about breaking habits)..

I’ve arranged a day at a vineyard when I’m in Tenerife (in about 3 weeks) , which I never would of done if I was still going with my mate

I’ve often travelled in my own over the last 10 years (Corfu, Latvia, Barcelona, Berlin, Turkey, Southern Ireland etc) and always find someone to talk to either in the hotel or other people on Fab who might be in the area….. it can be fun but always interested in finding a female travelling companion to share the cost even if we both do our own thing

Travelled by myself overseas a fair bit with work … frustrating sometimes , all expenses paid but gets tiresome.

Went to India by myself on holiday when 19.., wouldn’t recommend that …it’s hard work

Otherwise happy to go by myself on hols or in a group I can dip in and out of .. if I feel like doing my own thing
