WTF 470ml can and no widget, pure murder. It’s not a pint and never will be. It’s more or less flat.

So disappointed

No widget? How in hell do you get a creamy head? Dont tell me it's like the pre widget days....a slightly white/brown head and the drink has a fizzy after taste? That's how I remember it pre widget.

I don't even drink but this is old news. It was announced weeks ago that they'd run out of widgets due to covid production issues.

A local in the pub inused to frequent used to drink a warm bottle of Guinness from the shelf, with a dash of pepper.

Maybe try adding pepper to it?

My local supermarket is selling Guinness cans with widgets in it.. Have not come across the 470 no widget cans yet but apparently they are made in Belfast due to covid restrictions??? That's the reason diageo are giving anyway

I heard a Diageo rep on the radio a few weeks ago talking about this issue. He said they've reverted back to the fixed widget on the base of the can due to the covid induced shortage of floating ones. Interestingly though, he says it's the exact same amount of Guinness in the can.

Does this mean that you just got 30 ml of head /gas?

Also, I see someone complaining that it's no longer a pint. 500ml cans were never a pint to begin with

I've to say it boggles my mind how the production of widgets can be hampered due to the pandemic. Surely it's only a piece of plastic made in a fully automated process.

As far as I know the problem wasn't the actual plastic widget itself but the gas thats used to fill it to give it its creamy head

There was a problem in Europe with a production facilty and it had a knock on effect

Get a surger!

The surger cans cost a little more, but well worth it IMO

Anyone here remember Widget the World Watcher?

Cartoon in the 90s about an alien who came to save the environment, sort of like Captain Planet
