Just reading that ceo of charity pieta house pays herself 120k a year .director of finance gets100k .ayear andhr director 78,5k a year . And the charity is broke. Have done a lot over the years for it . Im disgusted . It seems an irish thing . Central remidical clinic the same few years ago

Seems the job discription ceo .of all charities is short for money-making machines

That's a big brush you're using there.

Not all charities are like that at all. Most charitable organisations don't reach the level of income to warrant paying anyone at all and are run by trustees rather than directors.

I was a trustee of an all Ireland organisation for 3 years and no one including the chairman got a penny. Not even travel costs.

Once the charities income exceeds a certain level they then have to appoint directors and up here their salaries are overseen by the charity commission.

Yes you are right . Not all are .. but i know many organisations down here that the ceo's get big salaries and survive mainly from donat fundraising and very little government support ......
