As the subject is in the news, can anyone tell of an app to detect hidden cameras or detect an appliance recording?

somewhere

I can't see any phone App doing that to be honest

If you're afraid of being fimed or recorded I think you'd need to bring in someone that specialises in that type of stuff ...actually selling hidden camera's or recording devices

I used to install cctv and have done a few covert jobs before. Most pinhole cams don't have infrared and are usually poor quality. But they are never that hard to find, I can spot them a mile off.

There is no app or device that will really help you find them. There is a small wand like you see in the mob films but you literally have to be on top of it to detect it, at that stage you should have caught it with your naked eye.

The only other way is detecting Infrared light. Now if it has infrared you definitely should be able to see it with your eyes because it will be big enough.

But infrared is outside of the spectrum we can see with our eyes , but if you use your camera on your phone the camera will pick it up. These are the fake apps you have seen advertised, literally any camera can do it.

Try it out yourself, point the ir part of your remote control into your camera lens on your phone and you will see it flashing on your screen through the camera.

It's also a handy way to see if the batteries are flat in a remote.

So if your in a room you want to scan, turn off all lights and make sure the room is black dark. The infrared will kick in on the camera and your camera on your phone will be able to see the ir light source.

Thanks for answers. Am sure if there were such an app it would really sell.

Hahaha it was like the OP didn't read a word of it. I had a great chuckle. Excellent answer.
