It depends on whether you're going to strip off for nude sunbathing or if you're looking to play in the dunes
If its just nude sunbathing there's a nearer to Belfast popular option to now that used by naturists
If its play then Donabate it is or you have to go to Wicklow |

Belfast is too close. I don't want my doctor's receptionist to see to see what he has seen |

No its still north Dublin but closer to the old Belfast road
I meet up regularly with friends on it and there's up to 20 of us on it at a time |

"Anybody been to Donabate beach recently - we are hoping to get there next week .. just a heads up on where to go etc "
I was there last Tuesday! Just walk to the very end of the beach, about 2.5km, and then, get in the dunes |

It’s a reasonable spot. Haven’t been this year yet (might not if the weather doesn’t improve) but been a good few times over the years.
Lots of lads cruising but they do their thing and we do ours. The dunes can be a nice little sun trap if the wind isn’t too bad.
Rarely see other couples but that doesn’t bother us. We go to tan, relax, and a bit of exhibitionist fun. Never had any problems with lads taking no for an answer.

"So where does one actually park? Is there a Donabate beach car park? And then walk 2.5M to the left side to the dunes - is that it?? "
Most convenient (Shortest walk) place to park is ‘Donabate South beach car park’. Look at Google maps… the car park is almost half way down along the beach. (You get to it by turning right at the mini roundabout 100m before the hotel at the beach entrance). Leave the car there, there’s a path leading straight onto the beach. Turn right and keep walking until you’re almost at the very end of the beach. (Looking across at Malahide beach). Again, if you look at Google maps, there’s a large green bush / tree (among sand) at the Southern tip of the beach. Just past that is the area you’re looking for. |

There is a sign at that park saying it's for golfers only. |

This is definitely NOT the shortest way !!!
Best to pay for your parking in the shoreline hotel and walk the length of the beach !!
There is no path from Donabate south car park !! Indiana Jones wouldn’t find it !! |
