Poor old Meat, an amazing voice and a larger-than-life personality to match. Last time I saw him on TV, he seemed very frail, so while I'm saddened, I'm not awfully shocked to hear this news. Thanks for the memories, Marvin Lee.

.

He was only 74, which is relatively young to go. Great voice, big character, but also talented enough to try his hand at acting (Rocky Horror and Fight Club spring to mind).

It’ll be a Bat Out of Hell day on Spotify while I work

TMZ have said he had covid and had cancelled some planned engagements during the week as a result.

Kinnegad, sometimes Cork, Limerick, Waterford

Another sad loss.

‘Like a bat out of hell I'll be gone when the morning comes

When the night is over, like a bat out of hell, I'll be gone, gone, gone

Like a bat out of hell I'll be gone when the morning comes

But when the day is done

And the sun goes down

And the moonlight's shining through

Then like a sinner before the gates of Heaven

I'll come crawling on back to you’
