Looking for tattoo ideas. Both male and female. The more pics the better.

My suggestion would be, meet with your tattooist and give him/her a few ideas of things you’re interested in or ideas you like and give them free reign to create something.

I did that with my most recent tatt, didn’t see the final drawing til the day I was getting it done and I love it. The best part is it’s totally unique.

Pinterest & Instagram are great for helping you decide on a style. Then reach out to an artist who specialises in that style, and who an extensive portfolio of proven work, to discuss the ideas you have

Personally I don't have any tattoos meself.

I've thought of getting 1 of the nieces & nephews names & date of birth on 1 shoulder/upper arm.

If I've kid's of my own do the other shoulder/upper arm. Both in different written styles.

(Weird though if anything happened to me, I could be identified, fairly easily).

Half afraid in another way to do it now.

Choose your artist first and then decide if you want it colour or grey scale and talk to your artist and come up with something together but if you are imputing lots of ideas make sure you have an agreement with them to who owns the rights to the tattoo as it can be challenging to say the least

I agree with the above as these were informative and a good starting point for me. After I made my initial shortlist from these sites, I then personalised these to symbolise a memory / event that i valued. This way my tattoo became unique, personal and meaningful to me. Hopefully this helps and good luck!!

I got my tattoist to design mine with a my ideas of the things i like and of milestone in my life. I would suggest what ever the tattoo have it in a way that you can build and add onto it otherwise if you got another on it might not fit with the first design you get

Cheak artist up first on fb or insta, get to know their work and style before you decide that the one for you and always do your aftercare that's so important for tattoo to heal

My advice would be, decide on what you want first. Then the style. Then find an artist that works in that style and that you like. Look at their freshly done tattoo pics and the same tattoos when they are healed.

I could give you plenty of ideas, but I could completely miss with what you would like as need idea of what you actually would like

Miss tattoo

Depends where on your body you’re getting it... and obviously the size and detail of the piece. I personally don’t think the pain is that bad, I sat for over 6 hours for my first one (on my back)and it was fine. Most painful was definitely my ribs, but again, not unbearable. Just be warned, as soon as you’ve the first one done you’ll want more, that are addictive "

Where on your body will it be? Definitely depends on location. Some spots are worse than others, but for me it's part of the experience. A rite of passage. But then I love a bit of S&M too

Also size of the tattoo affects it. Longer in the chair gets harder to bear. Longest I've sat for a single session was about 6 hours and I was definitely ready to be done at the end of it.

Never had anything on my chest but I wouldn't say it's the worst place. Ribs maybe. Meditation helps during the bad bits and the pain varies throughout the session. Sometimes it's bad, sometimes it's not.

It was once described to me as rubbing sandpaper over sunburn and that's pretty accurate I find.

"Couple of weeks away. Yes i am focusing on the end result."

Make sure you are well rested, no alcohol least 48 hours prior, if you use numbing cream say it to your artist before hand as this will influence your tattoo. Bring plenty of water eat high protein foods. Have chocolate with you as blood sugar levels will go down. Pain will also depend on your weight and how much muscle and fat you have or don't have in the area and also depends on your tattoo artist how painful it will be. My last one hurt the least only cause my artist is amazing

A good tattoo artist wont tattoo anyone for the 1st time on a senitive area like neck wrist etc unless yo had a tattoo before otherwise it could put you into shock they will know this anyway and no tattaoo should be anymore the 2hours per session. if any tattoo artist does it any longer i would be supicious of them

I'd strongly disagree with that. All my tattoos were multiple sessions of between four and six hours. I know several people with similar experiences. It depends on the people involved. If you can take more than two hours there's no harm. You're always able to stop the session early if it's too much.

Clearly that's your strongly held opinion but my lived experience, along with many others disagrees.

This will be my last response to this argument - you're entitled to your opinion but I reaffirm that there's no issue with long sessions if all involved are happy with it.

Sort of like sex that way

Exactly. I have had 2 8 hour sessions in the 1 week. My body and skin reacted well to it. One 8 hour session was stopped at 7 as I didn't rest and my skin was not happy. My next tattoo sessions will be 2 8 hour session one day after the other as my body and skin react well in general to it.

A good tattoo artist will know when to stop. If I only would do 2 to 3 hours I would never be done with any of my tattoos.

I hear you! Booked for another one in a couple of weeks and it'll be at least two 6 hour sessions. Looking forward to it, and definitely need to rest in advance.

Shock? From a tattoo on your wrist? Gosh! I had a snooze while I had wrists tattooed Easily the least painful of all mine.

It's worth noting as well that your body may feel pain differently on different sides. When I had my foot tattoos the left foot was a doddle, the other I thought I might pass out. Apparently it's quite common.

This

My longest sitting was 6 hours. For another I'd been booked for 5 but we stopped at 3 because I literally could not go on and my body had had enough

My last sitting was in 2019 and was supposed to be 5 hours.

The tattooist had a bad back and had to give up after 3 when he completed one section and I've never been back to get the rest of the original design done because firstly covid restrictions and then life got in the way.

It's ok because the tattooist will know the score...
