I’m thinking of immigrating to Gran Canaria. It’s warmer. Cheaper and more swinging. What do people think should I go for it. Not much keeping me in Ireland, sick of bern ripped off and taxes.

You might be better off renting a place for 6 months to a year. Just to see if it would suit you to be out there full time. I'm looking at doing similar on mainland Spain.

Renting first is a great idea, there is a huge difference between a holiday there and living there. Going over and renting gives you a chance to try a few areas before tying yourself to a place. There are so many differences between here and there esp for squatter's rights to stay after a few days.

Follow your heart but do your research

Depending on the size of your house here, you might be better off renting a room or 2 and keeping a room or 2 for yourself, Its less complications if you decide to sell after you make up your mind,

Would love to do this any advice about doing it. I'm learning to drive so can check out places in campervan first before deciding where to stay permanently

The real question is “why not”? A lot of positives.

Go for it just do the research and cover yourself. Most of these locations have networking available so you can have all the info and even a few contacts before you travel.

Goes without saying rent in the place before you buy.

Best of luck

Make sure you do your sums and make sure you'd ACTUALLY be better off. Lower cost economies usually have lower wages too. Also a quick Google is telling me the income tax levels aren't much different to here.
