We have tickets booked for our first social meeting at the envy night in Dublin on the 21st of June.
Looking for advice.
Tips.
Anything we should know?
Anything you wish you knew on your first visit?
Do's - Don't?
And reasonably prices accommodation local to the venue?
Nervous & Excited.
But mostly looking forward to it.

First social? Exciting times!
We were there not so long ago ourselves, so we're far from veterans, but we can give you our fresh experience from those early days. Biggest advice is don't stress it! Ultimately, it's just a big night out, except people will be dressed more scantily.
Do - talk to people. Many attendees will have friends and might not come up to you by themselves. This was honestly the most difficult bit for us, but you really want to get out of your comfort zone and go engage people, particularly if you spot some that you kinda fancy. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, and in general people will be happy to meet new people on the scene. If you feel extra shy, you might want to look for other shy couples, there always are a few. Not only will it be easier to approach people who aren't already in a big group, but you might also make their day as they might not otherwise have dared engage anyone.
Don't - get d*unk to cool the nerves. Best way to not get invited again and/or to not remember an important evening. And if things get a bit hot with others, don't get touchy without asking for permission first.
As for accommodation, unfortunately, this is kind of the worst case scenario. Dublin city centre, summer, and there's a Pink concert on that weekend, so accommodation prices are savage... We usually stay within walking distance when attending Nimhneach, but this time we'll have to taxi back to the hotel afterwards due to prices.

Last summer was our first one and I can honestly say you have nothing to be worried about at all ...agree with all the great advice you've been given already!!
Get yapping to people..we've always found everyone so so friendly .. way way more friendly than a "normal" night out ... leave all your expectations at the door! Don't be afraid to introduce yoursves to people ..definitely linking in with people before hand or going to predrinks can really help with the nerves, benefit of predrink is meeting people before and not having that daunting feeling of walking into the venue yourselves as you can go in as a group or with a coiple of others! There is no pressure on anyone to wear this or that ...just dress in what ever way you feel comfy..just like your going on a night on the town!! Your only complaint will be that the night goes waaaaaay too fast lol lol   we will be there too, aready looking forward to it!! |

Happy to hear that. The crowd, outfits and scenes are always a delight... It's great you even found some time to try the frames yourselves.
On our end, it was wild to visit the ground floor in full regalia. That made for a great extra socialising space in an otherwise tight venue. |
