Gym anxiety and I haven’t even bought the gym membership yet (lol)
Jump to: Newest in thread
So I have an extreme crippling fear of being at a gym and not knowing if I’m doing anything right
how people look at me weather it’s because I’m doing is absolutely arse ways or because im trans (which idgaf about) but the fact of the whole thing of a trans woman in gym to people freaks them out which is why I don’t want to go the gym because I don’t want confrontation with anyone and plus I take it very serious about not interrupting or being in a space I’m not welcomed in so I just fully stay out of it
I don’t want to be using the wrong machines(lol you can tell I haven’t a clue about the gym) like I don’t want to be looking like a body builder with big arms or anything
And listen I get it I probs don’t know what I’m talking about and the factors are not the gym but the nutrition I get it
Also what if I pay for a membership and the gym equipment/environment is not for me
Any tips or discreet pts hit me a message
Please my ass actually depends on it 😂 🙃 |

Take some sessions with a trainer and explain to them the goals you are setting for yourself. Most people in a gym are only looking at themselves or fully focused on their workout. The trainer will get you over the initial hump and set you on the right path. Can't speak to the particular situation you will be entering in but suss out the gym during training sessions before taking out any long term membership |

Try not to get too stressed. It's a fairly common anxiety.
But I'd do three things:
1. Ask for a trial period
2. Get a PT to set you a program based on your goals
3. Nutrition in everything. Get the PT to help you with that. You should be covering your protein and carbohydrate goals broadly based upon your goals and current body composition and drinking at least two litres of water a day.
Feel free to message me if you need any other assistance. |

There's other people there who will be in the same boat as you, not the gang of muscles from Brussels beside the weights. Find yourself a spot where all the non professionals hang out & set up camp. I joined a gym few years ago & was the same. I looked around and saw some man running on a treadmill in jeans & a shirt with runners, so I set up right beside him. Go and enjoy |
