Dating sites down in numbers!

So last year apparently Tinder in the UK lost 34% of its paying members and of the big 4 dating apps they had 1mil people drop off. 50% people would prefer to meet at social events and 20% introduced by friends and family. Where are people meeting or have they all just come here lol? Or like me maybe people just aren’t interested in dating! |

Socials only way to go. I did vanilla dating apps and only pulled once which didn’t last long. I believe in being honest what on vanilla sites and once I say I’m involved in the swingers community I normally get blocked or call all sorts lol. |

yeah I have witnessed some vanilla world strong disgust for us lot here on fab on a Facebook group. It’s ok to not get it, most of my friends don’t but the vitriol was shocking.

Since Covid lockdowns folks are out of the habit of meeting in pubs etc. Habits of drinking have changed and the cost of going out is nuts too. The dating apps are also a passing fad. At least on here you can set out your stall and its more upfront. |

I havent seen that, but anyone who calls out at people who like to explore in the bedroom are just prunes who should keep to themselves. If you dont have something nice to say, just dont say it. Its not that hard. |

I haven't been on Tinder but I used to be on pof for years and found it really good for hookups. However, it went through a process of "sanitisation" where if they found out you were only looking for hookups then you're profile for deleted pretty quickly. Last time I was on it I lasted a week and it felt like longer as serious relationships was all that anyone was looking for as far as I could see. I could've lied about my needs but I wasn't prepared to do that. |

Well tbf, I was on pof from about 2011 onwards and dating was a foreign concept there at that time. Hookups were the most common experience back then. They even had "intimate encounters" under the seeking tab as well as "married/in a relationship" under status. I think "married" then became "not single/not looking" ffs was the most common status to be found. Good times! |

I still use tinder and find it much easier to meet people locally than fab.
I see why the decline though. Everyone is sick of the slog through the swiping and the endless conversations starting and ending.
It's the enshitification of the apps algorithm to keep people swiping instead of getting good matches. Though it is still possible to game the algorithm a little. Less than before though
Then there's the constant nagging to upgrade to a paid tier which there is absolutely no benefit in. If I paid the €40 fee now to find out who the 99+ people who liked my profile were I would find all of them are way outside of my distance filter. Ask me how I know 😅

I’d love to date but I’m an un-dateable. This is not a woe me/ pick me post- but I’ve tried Tinder, Hinge, Feelde etc but it’s obvs unsuccessful. What do you write- submissive, likes anal and water sports, pain and most kinks, but has hardly any spare time, and you need to be free when I am- I can’t be honest on a vanilla site about my needs and likes, my options are pretend to be vanilla or stick to here… Ireland is not as progressive as many think |

My mother tells me all the time to go to SuperValu on a Monday night and walk around the fruit and veg. She says the single women are hammering it all weekend and go shopping after work on Monday to get food for the week and it would be the best time. Also I’d be able to see what her diet and culinary skills are like from the items in the trolley 🤔 |

God I remember early internet days (v early 1995 adopter - when a student with no credit card) and AFF was v fast out of the, then MBF, rsvp etc. So easy, so free. Only challenge was actually finding who was female and who was male pretending... simpler times. Virtually all feee or feee limited messaging. |

Filters, fakes and more ghosting than the haunted house..
Waste of time.
At least people are more up front here on what they are looking for and sure if the world thinks we are dirty perverts who are all going to hell, well at least it will be warmer and more fun down there... |

The apps are alright. I’ve gotten dates off them but you have to limit yourself to a few mins a day of swiping or you’ll waste your life on them.
Paying to see who has matched you is a waste of money. They’re always fake profiles or at other end of the country.
Sites like meet up etc are making it easier to connect with people of similar interest in a group setting. So I guess people are just trying that a lot more now in the hope of romance.
From the horror stories and just plain rudeness if heard from people about their past tinder dates, I’m not surprised people are ditching them. |

All the apps are the same, I prefer to use fab for sex and the dating apps for dating, but the only messages I get on the dating apps are from younger guys looking for an older woman. The guys I do get chatting to that are my age also only want hook ups or else agree to a date and then ghost. I can honestly say I haven’t had a single date from a dating app in the 4/5 years I’ve been on them 😳 |
