Absolutely not. Whether it's a massage or a sex worker I don't believe there should be any stigma attached if everyone consenting and safe. Of course breaking the law is breaking the law and there is no avoiding that.
But I do think prostitution should be legal. Sex and physical contact is a basic human need and everyone should have access to this in my opinion. I also believe sex workers should be protected and have the same rights as every other worker. |

I guess it's kinda sad that people can't find what they are looking for out of mutual pleasure. That would be the ideal situation. I guess when that's not available then there is no reason not to have your needs met in other ways, as long as noone is getting hurt. |

I have an acquaintance who is a 3rd level student, and offers companionship service to women. He is strikingly handsome, cultured and great company. Very popular, and only available through referrals from clients. I was considering doing this a few years ago, and found there were only two men in Ireland offering this service. I don't think the demand is there.
As regards paying for pleasure...why not?

Not wrong in my opinion. You should go for it if it feels like the right thing to do for now. I’m definitely in the camp of sex workers being made legal and in turn getting more protection. It’s a human need that’s always going to be catered for in one way or another so why not in the safest way possible.
We have payed in the past with one of our first experiences. We just wanted it sorted easy without all the messaging back and forth etc. she was lovely. it was a pleasant experience.

Just so everyone who maybe thinking about it is clear, it's against the law to pay for a sexual service in Ireland.
And that isn't restricted to money. It extends to anything that can be considered a payment, ie a gift.
A new bill was passed about a decade ago that makes it kinda legal to sell sex, but fully illegal to buy it.
If convicted, you will end up on an offenders list.

I know a person that worked in that area at one stage. A really interesting person who you could spend hours chatting with. Many of the clients were ordinary people who just wanted someone to chat with without stigma.
Aside from that, there are a good many people who are trafficked into this situation. It's hard to find the healthy balance but pushing it underground makes it a difficult safety issue |

If you consider fab as being something akin to toyboywarehouse, then you can possibly see the dilemma. Both are full of guys trying to fight it out in a dick pic gladiatorial contest.
From the women's perspective, she has to figure a way to sort the wheat from the chaff (not an easy task) - add the quiet reserved fella and he's lost in a sea of sharks.
Now perhaps consider the individual (female or male) with additional needs. This person has unmet sexual desires. There may or may not be issues around sexual orientation, emotional intimacy, communication, or possible health issues.
It's not ideal, but perhaps the only solution for them is to enter into a financial transactional agreement. Yes it maybe "sad" to someone looking in, but for the person, it is their only option.
No matter what way you look at it, the wrongs can be putted against the rights in this moral dilemma. It's a catch 22 paradox where I'm not sure what the answer is |

Personally I think the law in Ireland is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard.
It's illegal to 'buy', but perfectly legal to 'sell'.
How can you buy something without a seller?
Societal norms have spent 2,000yrs+ shaming women as whores, sluts, family breakers etc. When that failed to stop prostitution the govt has reversed the stigma onto men as sex offenders.
And true to form, it has completely failed to stop prostitution.
I say legalise it, regulate and license it, educate men and women about it. Provide security for sex workers, safe passage in and out of the industry. |

This is how I feel aswell. I’m all for legalisation and legislation to protect sex workers and there are many cases where both sides are fully consenting and happy with the arrangement, and fair enough. Would love to live in a world where men and women both fuck because they want to and not for financial gain. It's a shame sex work isn't seen as a recognised trade, better protection, ability to make payments legally, recognition of work and less stigma surrounding it. We as a species need/love sex and it should be more openly discussed. It could eliminate some of the incel culture, help people work if they want to work in that field and probably help society. |

It’s not sad at all. I have a busy life and a very occasional FWB. I miss intimacy dreadfully, so would be open to meeting with a male “companion”. I think some of you gents maybe missing out on a niche! Even all the chat and graft on Fab takes up too much time for me, between work and family. |

I'd say it's sad that one has to be reduced to having no other recourse but to compensate for sex to get a release and basic physiological need satisfied.
Ofcourse, it's way more complicated than that.
I have full sympathy for people who simply don't have another way to get that... And full respect for people that are willing to provide that kind of release and kindness either out of pure understanding and care for a fellow human being or for a compensation, if they decide this is what their meaning in life is. |
