Strange place to post I know but getting desperate now! Just wondering if anyone knows of any jobs going in the Midlands/n4 region? Qualified bricklayer by trade but would do anything. Came home from Canada a couple of weeks ago and finding it really tough to get work.

I'd suggest going to the agencies like Hays or O Neill & Brennan that will get you onto sites and you might pick something up that way

good luck

Good luck. I have changed career myself and don't regret it at all. Coming from trade background myself and found it extremely hard to find a job in my trade

"Good luck. I have changed career myself and don't regret it at all. Coming from trade background myself and found it extremely hard to find a job in my trade"

I worked for 30 yrs as a cabinetmaker/furniture designer and self employed for over 20 yrs and it was my big passion. It became unsustainable in recent yrs and my body is tired of physical labour.

Do you mind me asking what type of industry have you moved into ?

I have looked into training, teaching and instruction but it will take a few yrs to qualify for this type of position and I don't want to teach secondary school students,my preference would be for older students who actually have a desire to learn a particular skillset.

If I get into a tech or pharma type of company I would have to start at the bottom and work up to earn a decent living.

I haven't actually changed profession yet I'm looking to start out in something new now or take anything that comes my way. I'm not used to being out of work and it's pretty tough mentally.

I was made redundant afew years ago and was out of work for afew wks and I'm a workaholic so I know what you mean, best thing is to register with as many agencies as you can, check out gumtree as well for jobs, one of my jobs is construction and that's where we post when we have vacancies

Your mind is working overtime. I can offer you lots of overtime if you think you need more time to get the job done to your satisfaction.

That's probably not the best way to prepare for an interview
