I left awhile ago, shut down my profile due to my own personal reasons nothing to do with fab...shock horror...there is life beyond fab for some people. No bullying, no harassment, no drama...just left and then came back

Torguy, no need to apologise. My point was not directed at you but the posters saying why all the fuss if she left quietly. It quite right we acknowledge the legend that is BG. And yes, bullying needs to stop. Hence my 'not my circus ...' post. Maybe BG left without a fuss, but think it testimony to her, how many here are sad that she felt she had to go

I know of a cpl more people that have got very nasty threatening mail last week and the profile then went UNLOS,,,, people carrying on like 13 year old kids on an adults site that's supposed to be about fun,,, and reason for all this bullying and very nasty mails probably comes down to jealousy,,, a very ugly trait in anyone

Have never chatted with or met BG but her posts on the forums were always pleasant to read and she seemed a nice genuine witty person,, hope she comes back and gives the fingers to whoever was giving her hassle

Yes she left quietly and she has shared her reasons with friends. Her friends are outraged that another human being can be so nasty because of jealousy. She may not want to speak out but obviously her friends do. You keep quiet about bullying then they get away with it and move onto the next person. Her friends are entitled to their opinion as you are too. "

Here's a little reflection for everyone, and to preempt the inevitable accusation that I'm making sly digs at anyone, I'm not. I have no axe to grind.

What is bullying, exactly..?

Most associate it with the wilful act of physical, mental or emotional torture or another. And perhaps that happens directly and perhaps we as a collective don't do enough about it when we see it on here.

But I think on fab there's a more subtle form of bullying that is no less destructive. I've observed that there are those on here with quite an ascerbic form of humour, to the point of being caustic. And sometimes they cross the line and become downright insulting.

The thing is, such is the diversity of personalities on fab, that people like that are going to be on the forums.

And the crux of the point I'm making is that they don't actually realise that they are bullying - as it is simply them being themselves. They tend to be quite outspoken and certainly their force of personality is obvious. But the destruction left in their wake is no less as a result.

Can we as a fluid, transient group of users do anything about it...? We probably could, if we all took a responsibility to recognise and call out that behaviour early. Leaving it unchecked results in regrettable threads like this
