Even that won’t stop the crimes from happening. Whole thing needs to be moved from the small streets to. Massive park near by. It’s grown bigger then the area. |

Heard on the radio the organizers were given the option of Hyde park but declined,.
personal I think that would take away the the street atmosphere if it was ticketed with gated security fenced off to a certain area and route it would go a long way to keep out the people who’s only intention on going is to cause trouble.

Organisers wouldn’t want to move it due to the historical race relation reasons for the carnival in that location. As it was organised by the locals to bring white and black people together. It’s just lost it’s meaning. |

"Seven stabbing one fatally, female police officers held against their will and sexually assaulted.
Time to make this a ticketed event "
That's just a reflection of London. Where I'm from no-one dies. In Trinidad and Rio, murder is very common at Carnival. Nice, France, Venice, Milan, New Orleans, New York, Boston USA and Toronto have a Carnival every year without or with similar levels of violence.
And in those countries, it is not a ticketed event. |

I always find it interesting when people who have zero connection to Carnival want to make decisions about US, the People of the Windrush!
We are not stupid. We know immigrants were placed in slums and built up the NHS and the TFL after the war.
Then those slums were gentrified so that people could claim they live in an "vibrant ethnic area" in London and basically kick out all people who had cultural ties to that neighbourhood for decades.
I wouldn't be surprised. Immigrants are kicked out during gentrification. Our Windrush friends and family members were kicked out of the UK after decades of working and paying taxes and national insurance. Continental europeans were kicked out during Brexit.
The last thing is to kick Notting Hill Carnival out of the home of Notting Hill Carnival.
I dont' know if I will live long enough to see it but it seems inevitable.
Living in the UK has its plus points but as an immigrant you will never feel at ease. |

and that unease is because of the intentional hostile environment the government has encouraged not to mention vans going about and detaining people they deem "illegal".
I refuse to accept this idea that Carnival going away is "inevitable" if people wish to protect it and its seen as an institution that's part of the calender alongside Glastonbury and whatever it should keep going
we might not have money power(and maybe never will) but we have people power and they don't have that and never will either
