I don't really post here but I'm a regular forum browser.I was hoping some of you very knowledgeable fabbers might be able to suggest good restaurants/bars/clubs in London? Travelling over with a friend (vanilla) kind of last minute and need suggestions for evenings. Was looking at burlesque shows online...we're staying near the British Museum.

Feel free to pm me and thanks in advance

There's a pretty decent blues bar on Kingly Street in Soho called Ain't Nothin But Blues. If you're more adventurous and like metal, the Crobar on Manette Street is a fantastic (albeit very tiny) metal bar.

If you're staying near the British Museum then you have Covent Garden right on your doorstep with no end of decent bars/clubs etc. and then beyond that Leicester Square and more.

It's a pub but personal favourite round there is The Porterhouse on Maiden Lane, decent beer selection, great mixed atmosphere and a band playing most nights.

Hi...you HAVE HAVE HAVE to visit Cellar Door...

It is a converted toilet on the outskirts of Covent Garden...

Sounds weird but it's amazing..small bar, great cocktails and they usually have a burlesque dancer in the evening..might need to get in early for a seat.

Just up the road from there is Christopher's Martini bar too..very stylish and nice...

If you need more PM me... I work near there and can tell you about a few places.

If you don't mind a 40 minute journey one way l would suggest checking out the Camden or City venues.

There's Barts in Kensington, a prohibition style speak easy where you need to give a secret word in the door.

Think it's in Chelsea Cloisters

Camden market is good to walk around the indoor area and lots of different places to eat and drink.

Covent garden, oxford street, regents street, if you go into the city there is the royal exchange opposite the bank of england,

Trafalgar sq, Buckingham palace, hyde park.

walk along the south bank.

Leicester sq and Piccadilly

If you want to check what events are on look at Visit London website or timeout.
