A kitchen worker for the chain has got in bother for posting videos on Tic Tok of how the food is prepared. Apparently the curries and pasta are microwaved. Did anyone actually think they were freshly prepared ?

"Are the breakfasts any good?"

They are brilliant value and cooked to order, not microwaved

I've not actually been in to Wetherspoons since lockdown ended after the way they treated their staff and the comments the cockwomble of a CEO made about reopening.... blatantly all about the money

Isn't every commercial business all about the money?

Only thing cooked fresh is burgers and steaks, everything else is done by microwave technician

how where they treated badly??? Sorry I’m lost goverment forced the business to close. If you actually watch the video or read what Tim Martin said you would understand that actually he was telling his staff to do what was best for them he used Tesco as a example and said he understands if they take a job in the super market sector as he did not know how long they would be closed. That does not sound like mistreating employers. What everyone read was the headlines that where infact inaccurate and at least one national newspaper has been forced to apologise for. Not going to Wetherspoons or any other large business that was forced to close during lockdown and lose profits on hurts the people the employee as eventually they will have to let people go.

Stockport

The majority of pub foods (chains not independent) like Wetherspoons come already measured and ready to put in the microwave or oven for specified time. Under no illusion it would be anything different. You get what you pay for

Used to work in a hotel and cook the food for the guests in the evenings, there are certain foods I stay away from now, like lamb shank. All done in a microwave (I'm sure posh places do it differently).

I worked in one years ago, there are some things that are fresh and loads that are microwaved.

Who cares, when people can’t be arsed cooking at home a ready meal in a microwave is pretty standard for lots of people.

There and to the left a bit

To be honest the same probably applies to the "more upmarket" chains like Prezzo and Ask etc too - they may serve it with more of a flourish but will be similar methods - a bit like the difference between a Tesco value ready meal and a Tesco Finest one

As for the owner, much as I disagree with his views on Brexit, I thought his actual handling of staff over lockdown (rather than the social media hype version) was spot on and with his staff's best interests at heart even to the point he told them their jobs would be secure once branches could re-open

The burgers are decent enough...

I am not keen on places that ask me how I would like my burger cooked. If I wanted a burger cooked medium rare then I would have ordered steak....

We love their breakfasts.

Last time we had one, Tenpole Tudor walked in the pub, went upstairs and got one too!

I've had spoons breakfasts were I don't think the beans have touched a microwave. Certainly the breakfasts aren't bad to be honest and a decent one can't be pinged.
