My kittens (well almost 5 months old) and ahem one of them is trying to "have" his brother...
Not a pretty site 
Never had 2 kittens of the same age...not due to be neutered until January.
The bigger older one has got him and not letting go.. 
Advice please... |

least its his brother not his sister lol....
had that trouble with my kittens who were siblings...but i swear my boy is gay cos he didnt have a fecking clue lol..still got her done asap though |

We had two cats brother and sister, the brother is now not with us but every night his sister would get a good seeing too off him, they where noth "done but he used tobite the back of her neck then climb on and pump away, funny thing was she used to just lie there with a look on her face as if to say "hurry up will ya Im bored"  |

I tried water and no stopping..it's a little sad for the little one...so have feed them left over salmon to keep them entertained for now
Will I sleep now....nope! Should I keep them apart? Rather worried the "taker" will be traumatised like me |

"Take the bigger one to vet and get him castrated now .. can be done no reason not too .The younger one can then wait till he gets bigger. "
Yes my thinking is that...can't have another month or so of this and not with the elderly relatives around at Christmas!  |

Why are you waiting till Jan to have them neutered?
I would have the bigger one done now.
If he gets too dominant at this point the little one will always be the 'underdog' so to speak.

I am not waiting as such, that is when they are 6 months old......he (Luigi) has never done this before. |

It isnt set in stone that you wait till 6 mths . circumstances obviously dictate the need for an early castrate, talk to your vet and get advise . I work in a vet clinic we would do it if necessary. |

Without giving too much away, I have bred animals for a long time...not cats I hasten to add...and yes all animals sexually mature at different ages....
My vet says if you can see balls, can operate...
However not having had 2 cats of this age, I was wondering what to do before tomorrow...other animals I know what to do....;-) |

I got my male cat done at 4 months! Not a problem, think it is just mainly females they try and wait 6 months for! but nothing is set in stone!
I'd keep them apart as feel sorry for the little one |

Hi Julie - please don't think I'm being patronising - I'd just like to share my similar experience.
I recently rehomed two separate non-neutered ragdoll males of 10mths and 18 mths. The older male started exactly the same behaviour as yours to the younger one. I'd never encountered this before so I took advice from many cat experts and my vet of how to cope while waiting for the their neutering date.
The problem is nothing to do with being 'gay'..it is about hierarchy/dominance. One cat may be dominant about being first in at feeding time, another may have precedence with the litter trays, another may always be the one who waits at the door for you, the other has first call on cuddles time...and so on.
This display of apparent sexual dominance is just one cat establishing his position in the household in one of the many hierarchies that cats have. No one cat is totally dominant over the other.
The temporary solutions which worked for me were to apply a little baby talcum powder or a little neat alcohol to the scruff on the back of neck of the 'victim' where the cat grabs with his teeth. The dominant cat won't like the taste/smell and will pretty soon stop doing it. You can also buy a plug in atomiser called 'Feliway' which emits smells known to calm down cats..you need a couple of them (one up and one downstairs). My vet said that even after neutering it would take a few months for their hormone levels to reduce enough to stop this behaviour but I found it a much shorter time with my two thankfully because it drove me mad!!
Anyway, hope that helps...and rest assured that your dominant cat is not actually penetrating the younger one..lol Get the older one done as he is now becoming sexually mature and will soon start to spray around the house...and that stinks believe me!! Good luck. |

on reflection,giving them a romantic dinner may not have been the best option. |
