The biggest over hype in English football?

The Anfield crowd.

Yeah, they sing along to “You’ll Never Walk Alone” and wave their flags prior to kick off.

But during the game they’re totally average.

Anyway. Up the Arse. I mean Magpies!

Siri: they generally support lower league teams and have grand opinions on what constitutes good atmosphere.

Primary as standing in the rain with 12 others at a home game makes them entitled.

Thanks Siri

Sorry, but what an absolutely disgraceful comment. What on earth makes you think you're better than other fans just because you support a team higher in the football pyramid? Everyone is allowed to have an opinion regardless of the team they support.

As a matter of fact, you offered absolutely nothing with your original reply so the hypocrisy is off the scale!

London/Essex... ish... Romford to be exact

There's dead atmosphere at many Premier League grounds. You can argue this season has been quite open and exciting for spectators. But generally, it is a strong team attacking and a weaker team employing a low block and not really competitive. Add in the sanitising of the experience, the change in the composition of football fans and you get a water downed experience...compared to the past anyway. It's not really a working class game anymore as they've all been priced out.

And many grounds and fans with a reputation for having strong support are hyped by the media companies. They form part of 'the product' and contribute towards the brand. Liverpool and the supporters are obviously significant so Sky and the like push the hype. I have never been to Anfield before but I've come across many accounts saying it's a lot quieter than it used to be. Unbelievably so. So is Old Trafford. Etihad...etc

If you want to go to a game with a good atmosphere and non stop singing then pop along to Luton town.

They always have the piss taken out of them but the fans are there through the good and bad times
