Somewhere In The Ether…

Favourite oven setting?

I really like 180 degrees/gas mark 4.

Waiting for that little orange light to go out whenever I set it as such, is never less than an incredibly exciting and rewarding experience I find as you can never predict exactly when it will click off…

I’ve had my tea already though so I may instead go and boil my kettle now; the automatic click off provides similarly gratifying entertainment

I tried one of those.

Hmmm….the lights stayed on though so I felt a bit cheated. No suspense

Sometimes I like to indulge my rebellious streak and set it to around 178.5 or even 179.5 if I’m feeling really daring….

I don’t know why I haven’t given this any thought already. I’m a serial 180° user. Sometimes I go bat shit crazy at 220°

Have you ever used one of those traditional Hexi-fuel stoves? I tried one whilst camping once and the fuel was popping and spitting everywhere!

It was dead exciting

Ooo yes! I love my Tassimo for the sound effects to; beeps, chuddering, bubbling and hissing. It’s never the exact same experience twice…

No not tried that, this is a lifestyle so need to watch the weight. I had a gas stove but I was just using it to hear water for coffee, I was I France and my bag was too heavy so had a clean out, the stove had to go as I can get rid of gas, frying pan and saucepan then, didn't throw it away I buried it in a forest next to the Rhone River in Mornas, I know exactly where it is lol.

Gets even more reckless when I only use a tea towel to handle the oven trays!!!!

Microwave cookery is also highly rewarding I find. Watching the timer count down never ceases to send chills of excitement through my loins before the final ‘ping’ at completion invariably ends with a completion of my own….

Odd question. I normally end up cooking things at 200°. It suits most things. If I'm making rusks though I have it on the very lowest setting at the bottom of the oven.

I have observed with keen interest that my oven can be ramped up to a whopping 230 degrees.

Clearly this is crematorium mode and I’ve never dared try it.

Has anyone else? What was it like? Out of body experiences?

How am I supposed to use the microwave now with that image taking space in my head?

Apparently, the Welsh for microwave is "poppety-ping".

It’s probably best if I not make mention regarding my rather novel usage of my Henry vacuum cleaner then……
