Saw in the paper this morning that they want to tax sugary drinks by 20p.

Whilst i can understand the Coke (other brands, types and favours are available) type drinks. Does this include fruit juice which as high natural sugar, or tea and coffee which I add sugar to?

Jerremy (H)Cunt, secretary of state for health is now on record as not being in favour of a sugar tax. It won't happen........

Whenever I see stories like this I’m reminded of that famous quote attributed to Abraham Lincoln which goes along the lines of “don’t believe everything you read on the internet”

The Scandanavians have had a sugar and fat tax for years. Seems sensible to me?

little house on the praire

But isnt this what people have been complaining about when it comes to what people eat and drink, that crap food is so cheap. I actually dont think its such a bad idea, however it would be good to see crap food prices go up and healthy food prices go down. Will it happen? I doubt it but im sure it would be beneficial and save the country lots of money in the long run

Whilst i am not in a panic about it, i am sure it will be interesting to manage, as at what point is a drink a sweet one when you talk about Teas and coffees. its a bit like the hot v cold snack debate.

It is a good idea and had some poyential benefits so long as the money goes where it is promised to.

but as it has been said it has to get fully off the ground first,so we shall see

You see, this is the problem with "they". The OP seems to be implying that some government figure wants to introduce a tax on sugary drinks and that just isn't true.
