How much is your mortage?

I am looking to buy my first property in the next couple of months just not sure what I can afford on £1800 a month.
I will be looking for a new build (less maintainenance costs) with hopefully a few grand 5k to spend |

If you go to a mortgage advisor they will tell you what you can afford. |

Loads of ways to look at budgeting.
Outside of home deposit we like the 50/30/20 method of budgeting - google it
The mortgage repayment sits within the 50 (% of take home salary) along with other needs. Council tax, heat, light, basic food.

Only one way to find out! And it's not asking a bunch of strangers from all over the UK (and the rest of the world). Go to unbiased.com to get some advisers and ring round. |

Some will charge their fee to the lender, as long as you use their services to complete the mortgage. If you go elsewhere after the initial advice they may well charge you for their time.
You can get a broad idea of what you can lend using either bank sites or sites like money saving expert to compare mortgages and rates. |

Cheers thank you i have looked at a budget calculator and priced bills etc looks like I could potentially have 400 left over for spends. Then a couple of extra money makers on the side hopefully |

Unfortunately it doesn't matter what you think you can afford, rather what the bank is willing to lend you.
The advice above to speak to an independent mortgage advisor is the best advice in my experience |

Find yourself a mortgage adviser.. They have to declare if they are getting a kickback - but they do have access to good deals and they are constantly getting new offers... They will explain how their fees are added
It doesn't help you knowing what someone else's deal is, as its such a unique situation
Personally I chose to bump up my monthly payments by £400 so i can finish paying it off whilst i have a great deal. I would encourage you to try to pay off an extra £1-2k per year if you can save say £100 per month |

I plucked chickens so should be similar i like lots of different stuff. Do you like fish as I enjoy doing various fish dishes and a mean bouillabaisse soup. If not then how about a poachers pie (with the plucked pheasant) |
