Up until now, I've always thought of you as a really nice, if a little confused, an American Geordie Gooner. And like I said very nice but now you've messed that up with your 'Agent Moyes' trash talk...

Anyway just hoping your lot can hold out for a draw tomorrow but not holding my breath.

As for our next manager, it's a hard one, probably the Sporting manager but it's really hard coming in after a legend,

The Cockney Reds are playing away to Brentford tonight 8.00pm.We are currently 6th but with 5th worth a Champions League place we need a win to keep the pressure on Tottenham. It will be tough with a midfield 3 of Mainoo , McTominay and Fernandes as there is no proper #6 there but I think we can sneak a win.

Back from Manchester… few thoughts

Saliba and Gabriel… godlike!

Surprised that Jesus started on the left over martinelli, but he is the better defender.. Saka didn’t look himself,

We all thought tomi would start over kiwior, but as soon as doku came on, can see why arteta brought him straight on!

It wasn’t a great performance, it was a what needed to be done preformance ( would give me more hope of a potential 2nd leg semi final if it happened)

You may have heard the Arsenal contingent go silent about half way through the 1st half, that is when our phones started buzzing about what had happened in the conti cup final…..

Well done to the women ( I’ve plussed the game so I’ll watch it later) and hope frida makes a quick recovery, it must have been scary but the Arsenal medical staff are some of the best in the game

I think the Jesus booing was more about some of the time wasting.. to be fair there wasn’t a lot of booing for him when he came off…

Happy that the Arsenal 1.5’s are winning 2-0 at the moment, great chance to give some big players a rest (Saka, rice, martinelli, Jesus ect….)

"What fucking idiot decided to schedule a game between man u and Liverpool at 3:30 on a Sunday afternoon.

The answer is television and planned train strikes…but it was more complicated…. And it also involves the Tottenham vs forest game

Because of the way by TNT staggered the midweek round… the spurs forest game was supposed to be the Monday night game…. But because of train strike, forest fans would have no way of getting to and from.. so originally they were looking at Tuesday, but can’t because of the Arsenal Bayern game

So the spurs vs forest game has been scheduled so that in theory forest fans can still catch last train back.. hence 6pm

Now.. sky already committed to showing the old firm game at midday (that had been moved from Saturday) the Man U Liverpool game was originally going to be 4.30 but would have overlapped.. so they brought it forward as they are in theory not allowed to show a 3pm kick off game in England on a Saturday or Sunday

So they had the choice of 2.30 or 3.30…. 2.30 would only give them basically 20 minutes pre game… so 3.30 it is!

. I agree it’s asking for trouble but the last few games have been Sunday’s 4.00 pm kick off.Interesting that Rangers v Celtic is also on today 12.00 pm kick off perhaps Sky or TNT sports have a say as for them it’s all about getting as many games on tv as well about making money.

cheltenham town v Bristol rovers,

we have failed to score in our last 7 games and travel to cheltenham today to play a side that took over a 1000 minutes to score their first goal this season, on top of that their manager is an ex rovers manager with great rapore with our fans.

we have seen Joey Barton sacked and replaced by an uninspiring matt Taylor who was sacked by Rotherham this season who appear to have lost the dressing room.

i expect another loss today and personally dont care anymore even started to question my own sanity as to why i have already renewed my season ticket for next season.

Five games in SPFL premier today.

But, it’s the game before the top six/bottom six split and Dundee, Hibs and Motherwell are slugging it for 6th.

Aberdeen vs Dundee

Motherwell vs Hibernian

Are games to look out for.

Motherwell home to Hibs could be a really good game, both sides inconsistent but can score goals.

If Aberdeen take a lead against Dundee could turn the other game into a goal fest.

Real-time ups and downs and potential for eighth place Motherwell to snatch sixth place

Looking at Newcastle’s next 3 fixtures, I fancy them to finish above Man U. If the Scousers and my lot exit the Europa League next week, which is looking highly likely, then the extra place in Europe is under serious threat. I think your looking at the Conference League, unless you win the FA Cup.

. I thought with Europe they were taking last season into account for the 5th spot if that is not the case then we may have to win the FA Cup unless our old boy Mark Robbins has different ideas next week. After today and next week FA cup we have two home winnable games against Sheffield Utd & Burnley it could be a winner take all against Newcastle on 15th May at Old Trafford.Right now one game at a time and hopefully a win against a good Bournemouth side.

"Well the Cockney Reds are away to Bournemouth in the 5.30 game tonight. After Newcastle win earlier today we are down to 7th so we need the win to get up to 6th hopefully stay there from the chasing pack from now until the end of the season to qualify for the Europa League.

After today and next week FA cup we have two home winnable games against Sheffield Utd & Burnley it could be a winner take all against Newcastle on 15th May at Old Trafford.Right now one game at a time and hopefully a win against a good Bournemouth side."

No.. with Europe it’s the top 4 leagues in the 5 year coefficient get 4 spots… (England, Spain,Italy Germany) plus the top 2 in this years alone… and that can now only be 2 from Italy Germany and England

With everyone doing badly in midweek… not now looking great for champions league place 5…

Just for the record - we didn’t go to Germany this week to deliberately lose and screw up Man U’s Europa League chances.

The Scousers, on the other hand ….

. As a Cockney Red my thoughts were that you lost to a top team that tomorrow could become German champions and Liverpool probably rotated to many players with one eye on tomorrow’s game.We don’t need other teams to deliberately lose for us to mess up our chances of Europa League or Europa Conference League we are quite capable of doing that on our own.

We went to Leverkusen in August for a pre-season and they were awesome to watch then. Really no surprise to me that they will win the Bundesliga. Fair play to them - been great to us both times we were over there.

No digging here, as I am not anti Man U, what would you do at your Club to turn it around? From where I’m sat, you dropped a couple of huge bollocks not signing Kane and Rice.

. I would stick with the manager as I believe injuries to 3 of our best defenders have not helped him. I think we need to buy British players or players with Premier League experience.I hope you won’t be to upset with this but we should have bought Ward Prowse instead of Mount and if we offload Rashford , Sancho , Antony we should go after Bowen. I would get rid of Onana and if fit go for Pope or Ramsdale. We need a defensive midfielder as Casemiro is now past it I think Guimaraes maybe the answer.Overall though it’s going to be 3-5 years until we can get to where the top 3 are but we should not be 11 points behind 4th with 6-8 games to go. We build around Mainoo , Garnacho and Holijund

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question in such depth - appreciated. I respect your realistic assessment of the situation.

I agree that buying proven PL players is the best bet for your lot to move forwards. Rashford would be the first one I would offload, especially if PSG are happy to have their pants pulled down for £80m, as is reported.

Bowen is exactly the type of player you need; as he is already playing for the Champions of Europe, no chance of you getting him . I also think Dunk would be a good signing for you.

Not as in depth as my first and second drafts lol.My concern with Dunk is he is 32 years old and yes he is playing well but as I see us as been 3-5 years away from where the top 3 are it maybe better to look at Guehi or Tomori. I would have no problem taking £80million of PSG money for Rashford at his age he should be more consistent now and he is the senior player of our front 3.You mentioned earlier we dropped a couple of huge bollocks not signing Rice and Kane.I believe ETH wanted Kane more than Holijund but we didn’t want to pay over the top for him as Tottenham would have wanted something like £120million upfront from us.Rice I feel had made up his mind he wanted to remain in London as he didn’t show any real interest when Man City came in for him so I doubt he would have be interested in joining us.If by some miracle we could have signed both at the start of this season and kept De Gea and had Varane , Shaw , Martinez available to play together for more games than they did I think we would have been in the top 4 and a outside chance that at this stage of the season it would be a 4 horse race instead of the current 3 horse race we have.

@Cos 19 - not quoted your last post, as it will take up half a page with my reply added.

Good shout on the centre-backs.

Regarding Kane, he was worth £120 million to Man U. His goals would have probably got you back into the Champions League, and possibly helped you qualify out of this season’s group, both of which would have gone a long way to covering the amount paid “over the odds”. I do accept that you would have won nothing with him, as his “Spursy” innate allergy to trophy polish seems to be transferable to whatever team he plays for.

Declan Rice was a strange one to me. I know some lads who know his family, and 18 months ago the expectation was that he was going to OT. Again, no matter how much over the odds they had to pay to get him, it would have been worth it to Man U.

Enjoy your day. I have sold my ticket for today’s game, as I am taking my wife out for the day (as way of appreciation for her on-going tolerance of me shooting off to Europe every few weeks for football).

I know that you replied to Cos but as a fellow Man United fan, I wanted to put my two pence worth in. Getting Rice and Kane would've been great, but we were hindered a bit by FFP in this transfer window. The Mount transfer was a bit of a mystery but could've been argued we needed more bodies in midfield.

And although Kane would've done well, we famously have selfish wingers who don't provide service to our strikers so I don't think Kane would've been as prolific as people would think.

Mr Beans, great to hear from you and welcome to our little bit of “United Corner” (bearing in mind that there is more than one Club with “United” in its name).

I understand the FFP argument, don’t fully accept it. If you don’t buy dross like Sancho and Anthony, overpay on Hoylund, don’t go anywhere near Mason Mount, sell Rashford etc., you’ve got the money to buy real quality when it becomes available. We got Alvarez and Kudos from Ajax for the same amount you paid them for Anthony. West Ham’s team improved, Man Utd’s arguably got weakened.

And “selfish wingers”? Have a chat with Sir Alex and ask him his view on that. NO team at any level, from Wanstead Flats up, accepts that - players and managers alike. From the outside looking in, there’s too much player power at OT, which needs breaking.

. From a personal perspective for me Harry Kane was worth £120-£130 million upfront on a 4 year contract but I don’t believe our board would have sanctioned such a deal. You are correct when you say his goals would have got us in the top 4 and I think out of our Champions League group. Declan Rice I can’t ever remember seen us linked too much with him but again I believe £100-£120million up front we could have got him.I do however genuinely believe he has no interest in moving up North otherwise he would have considered Man City offer.Enjoy your day out with your wife.

We definitely paid over the odds for Antony but Sancho was tearing it up for Dortmund although his discipline issues should've been a red flag and scouted properly. Fully agree with you about player power and yet people will always still find ways to fault the manager even knowing 10 years in the manager isn't the problem...

Tonight has probably killed the chances the EPL had of gaining the extra Champions League spot. Unless the Scousers and the Champions of Europe pull off two unlikely results tomorrow night, this will be confirmed tomorrow night.

Good luck to Villa tomorrow night. The UECL is the only cup worth winning anyway .

Is today the day that Derby achieve promotion? Considering they’ve not played particularly well all season, to finish top two would be a tremendous boost to the club, and following the 21 points penalty in the championship 2 seasons ago maybe at last we’re going in the right direction.

The Cockney Reds are playing in the FA Cup semi final against Coventry. With Casemiro playing centre back and Mainoo & McTominay sharing #6 & #8 responsibilities it could be a end to end game like against Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter final. Had a great time, thank you. God, we were useless today, and every bit as knackered as I predicted. When Hell freezes over and Palace qualify for Europe, and are playing European football at this stage of the season, you will appreciate how difficult it is to keep going twice a week on limited resources.

As you say, that howler at the end was worth the effort of going.

Hope Wharton is ok. He looks a very tidy player and shows there is good talent in the Championship if you are prepared to look for it.

You were surprisingly poor although I thought we were superb for the first 30 mins. Hell might freeze over sooner than you think if Glasner continues to work his magic on the team, we are very excited about next season. I'd certainly like to think we could challenge for a Conference place even if we don't get it but do accept that once qualified a European run can do more harm than good. However it would be worth it for a cold Thursday night in Bratislava! You are right about Wharton, an absolute find from Blackburn and I can see him being England potential before long. Thankfully only a minor injury and should be fine to face the Saudis on Wednesday. Good luck for the rest of the season.

"Hello and welcome to my football thread, continue here, it is for all leagues and what team do you support and are they playing today? I support man city and we will play against aston villa and I reckon that we will win with 2-1

My lot, derby got the win they needed, so now just a point from final game against carlisle gets promotion"

hope derby go up and Blackpool make the play offs unlikely but think weve left it to late now

Super big week for Arsenal…. Chelsea home tomorrow, then spurs away Sunday…

“If” we win both… I don’t think we are not dropping another point for the red of the season

Let see what city do….

The Cockney Reds are home to Sheffield Utd tonight and I fancy us to sneak a win.If Crystal Palace can sneak a win or draw against Newcastle we can go up to 6th which will be enough to qualify for the Europa League or we can wait for 25th May beat Man City and still qualify for the Europa League

The place I love

Another interesting set of results over the past couple of nights.

Solihull Moors are a step closer to joining the football league for the first time in their history, we have a Juve-Atalanta final in the Copa Italia, and a couple of late goals for Doncaster away to Colchester mathematically keep Sutton in the league and set it up nicely for an exciting finish to League 2.

In less important news, a north-west based team with a huge support in the south win a game that should help them qualify for 6th place - an excellent return on the obscene amount of money they have spent on players.

Meanwhile, their local rivals (who have a large following in the city they play in) benefit hugely from another north-west team with a huge support in the south losing to their local rivals (who have a large following in the city they play in).

At the same time, Declan Rice continues to prove that, even at £105 million, he was one of the bargains of the year. Ok, he’s not as good as at least 9 of the squad playing down the road in N17 (as pointed out to me earlier in the season by a poster on here), but a decent player nevertheless.

Congrats to Palace for another win against a top 8 side - 3 on the trot now. Mid-table obscurity beckons this season, with more hope for next (until Eze and Olisi get sold in the summer).

In summary, Football - love it, just love it!!!

That would be the full extent of David Sullivan’s ambition. I like Dyche as a person, and respect what he has achieved as a manager, just don’t want to watch his style of football week in, week out. Contrary to what some West Ham fans would have you believe, David Moyes has delivered some exciting football for us, albeit not consistently enough for some. He has also served up some dross, but I’ll always be grateful for what he has done for West Ham I.e. given us a trophy and our pride back.
