Forum safety phrase....

As a long time member and short time participant...

I'd say those people who engage in the forum are people who Id be happy to chat with, granted, not every chat will lead to something but it's pretty easy to tell those who are here for a speedy wank...and those who are genuine...

And when you like someone...it's easy to get lost in the inbox...

I'm sure its been tried\failed before....but is there any traction in a 'safe phrase' in the subject to help the opposite party know if you are someone whos engaged in the community or just after a short shifty ham shank?

...here's looking at you Mr 'sheffield' forum posts.

Right...back in my box...

I guess if you message directly from a thread the thread title is the message subject. That’s a good indicator?

"I guess if you message directly from a thread the thread title is the message subject. That’s a good indicator?"

Agreed.

However it also depends on the thread. You're not going to get much traction if you message directly from a "Rate My Cock" thread. The recipient will probably purge that one straightaway.

You can use the reply privately button. But you’ll also see forum users saying ‘keep it in the forum so not every such message will be welcome.

.

The easiest way would be if it was a thread that says to private message people. Even then you're not guaranteed a reply though. It's best if you're part of the thread as well.

I'd avoid private messaging people off the back of threads where the topic is sex related unless you've already spoken before.

I find my inbox quite depressing, and that’s with filters, I think it’s why I spend so much time in the forums, I can have a laugh & banter with folk, but once it goes to my inbox, it gets lost

North East Scotland, mostly

Re. keep it on the thread... I have posted this before, usually when someone uses my post to dm me about something sexual, and if we haven't engaged in the forums before. If it's someone I have spoken to on here, I don't mind the dm. There's not a hard and fast rule.

I never say it , never have. I think it's worse behaviour than the message in the first place.

Just message them privately , ignore totally or block.

In reality very few would get a kick out of shaming or outing someone who spoke to them privately in front of everyone present.

A needless and hateful little 'law' that sprang from nowhere.

On the (rare) occasion I’ve been messaged from a forum thread it’s been quite interesting and thought out. So it can be a good thing.

East London

If more than one person sent me a sexual message after from a thread I'd commented on I might say replies on the thread please.

They usually get ignored anyway, or told to respond on the thread, if I don't want to be dragged into a sex chat or they want to meet me.
