They're a more simple version of a 3D printer.

You upload a pic/file onto the software and the then make a file the engraver understands (gcode).

So many of them are made in China, made from the same raw parts (motors, etc).

Just work to your budget.

Kits are cheaper, if you're prepared to build it.
