Does it matter to you what other people do with their bodies?

My first response was 'it doesn't'

There are always exceptions though

If it was someone close and I felt that changes were a health or MH concern, I'd broach it but, ultimately, as an adult, the decision lies with them

It doesn’t. People just like to be dickheads because they have nothing else going on in their lives.

I'm very interested if we are playing bareback and supposedly there is no one else!

Excellent point!

But other things that are none of my business, those are none of my business.

North East Scotland, mostly

It doesn’t, unless it directly affects me.

A nice rock

Because A: it can affect me or B: I have deep seeded self image issues and it's easier to focus on perceived flaws in others

I'd probably care a tad if they were getting naked and gyrating anywhere near me.

It doesn’t.

Unless my body is involved with their body, then it does.

It doesn't as a general principle, unless I am affected.

However, it relates to issues like capacity, which is covered by the Mental Capacity Act. It has to be proved that someone lacks capacity and a decision that you disagree with is not a sufficient reason.

Or arguably if a person is a threat to themselves or others, which is covered by the Mental Health Act. The threat to oneself is quite a contentious matter though, hence there's quite a significant threshold.

Even in such circumstances an intervention would need to be the least restrictive option.

If someone is vulnerable other people e.g. parents have a responsibility to ensure the well-being (including physical) of those they care for. Those decisions will entail their beliefs and values. In the case of a child their right to have a say in decisions, which affect them is protected under article 12 UNCRC.

Liberty entails both the freedom to do as we wish and the freedom from harm. We have a duty of care to others as well as a responsibility to respect their autonomy.

"However, it relates to issues like capacity, which is covered by the Mental Capacity Act. It has to be proved that someone lacks capacity and a decision that you disagree with is not a sufficient reason"

Principle 1 - presumption of capacity

Principle 3 - the right to make decisions seen as unwise or eccentric

I used to love delivering MCA training

Advocacy is my second passion. I miss it sometimes.

La la land

Depends, have a friend who used to self harm. And yes I did very much care what she doing to herself. If it can have an impact on someone I care about or if it has an impact on myself I am going to worry or have some kind of opinion on it. If it has none of these they can crack on to their hearts content.

It only matters what they do with their bodies if they're doing it with me. Which they don't, so it's of no interest.
