Do you say thank you to the Bus driver
Jump to: Newest in thread
Hello, good morning, good afternoon, good evening, thank you, goodbye, have a nice day, it's a bit cold today, how are you, has it been busy today, have a good weekend, all used to exchange pleasantries with people including bus drivers as appropriate. Some of them though they do get out of the wrong side of bed and can't be bothered with any pleasantries at all. |

"Yes, but less so now these days as you leave the bus from the center door rather than beside the driver. But if it’s empty enough I’ll say up to them. "
This as I'm in Dublin too. Always did when I was busing it. |

Depends what door I use to exit...if it's the one next to the bus driver yes...if it's the one in the middle of the bus, or the back, it's pointless really as the driver won't hear you unless you shout like a madman... |

"I don’t just say thank you. I give them a short (ish) review of the bus ride, parts I enjoyed, what could’ve been better. Talk fondly about my favourite bus journeys.
It’s hugely unpopular. " are you an undercover inspector xx |

"Yes, don't know how they put up with being on the road all day. I find driving increasingly irksome these days." I use to drive the 192. Challenging but generally good folk on there |

Of course. I say thank you and give them my biggest smile.
Working with the public can suck so I am a little ray of positive sunshine to everyone when I am out and about ⭐️☺️☀️ |

Of course. And when I commuted daily in London I'd regularly give them a cold drink on a hot day or the occasional sweet or chocolate.
Aside from the good feeling you get when you're nice to someone, it also ment that they wouldn't ever shut the doors in my face or would even occasionally wait at the stop if I was running down the road to get the bus.
Londoners will tell you how rare that is Lol |

"Definitely in Liverpool. I think it's a northern thing. Most southerners are up their own arse"

I thought northeners were supposed to be friendly |

I’m surprised northerners are able to access the bus, what with that massive chip they carry around on their shoulders. |

London is not the entirety of the South. |

"London is not the entirety of the South. "
Exactly. 😊
Plymouth is friendly overall and the majority are polite on the buses. I've had random chats with people at the stops too.
Tend not to talk on the bus, because I need to wear headphones, as I get overstimulated by the noise and have misophonia.
Sure, you get the odd arsehole, but that's true anywhere, not just London. I've seen shitty behaviour up north as well. Used to live in Nottingham and boy, there are many of them. |

Anyway Mr Busman I've taken your thread on a tangent. Sorry my bad.
As I said I always speak to the driver. Also the drivers round here with one recent notable exception are very friendly and helpful. They always wait until you've sat down and some will get out if their cab to help people on and off. |

Ok I’m from Birmingham area which is in the middle. I’m friendly to everyone, maybe because I’m a dog owner. I find the further south I go the more unfriendly people are and the further North I go the friendlier. Liverpool aseptically. |

The fact that londen has very few true Londoners anymore is probably you feel they are up there own asses
The true facts are London is now heaving at the seams with foreign residents that mostly speak broken English at best |
