I don't think I'm anything special, but I've come to accept something about my appearance must work, or else I wouldn't get laid. Although I have a feeling personality goes a long way in that department |

Is hesitate to say confident but I deal with what I have, some others will like me, some won't, such is life. |

Tbh the only thing I'd change are my tits, they could do with some reinflation from my slimming down. Maybe that's a 50th birthday pressie option |

Also this. If people don't like you for who you are, they can fuck right off. I'm generally attracted to odd looking men, but it's their personality I fall for. Fab perusing rarely works for me. I get drawn in by torsos and they're often just bellends in personality |

I'm a naturist, I'm very happy with my naked self. When I'm dressed smartly (which is most of the time), I feel very confident. Dressed in scruffs for DIY, I feel very relaxed and happy and when I'm in my cycling Lycra (yes, I'm a MAMIL), I'm very happy but I don't think it suits me that much; I have been told (many times) that it shows off my thighs - I do have great thighs |

I forgot to add:
OP, wear the clothes that help you feel good even if they maybe out of place for the occasion; I often wear my three piece suit to work when everyone else is dressed semi-cassual, I feel that lifts me and gives me an added confidence. |

I used to have real body hangups.
However, I look how I look and that's not going to change. I know I'm not Adonis and accept that I'm not everyone's cup of tea. But I try to make the most of what I've got and, so far, my looks themselves haven't been a problem despite my own doubt about my self-image holding me back.
As I've got older however I've learned to feel comfortable in my own skin more and care less what others think.
But the struggle is real my friend, and more often than not, it's mostly down to the bullshit story you keep telling yourself.
But here's the thing about confidence, it's one of the only things in life that faking it helps. If you fake confidence then good things happen because you seem more confident (and we all know that'll dampen many a gusset), and the more good things happen, the more confident you feel...
This morning's personal development was brought to you by my fifth cup of coffee and the number I just jotted down on the toilet wall. |

Exactly this. I thought I'd feel so confident with weight loss but loose skin etc is an issue I didn't even think about. Congratulations on your weight loss, you've done really well. I guess our brains have to catch up when a significant amount is lost. I was 25 stone but now 16 and it sucks that I now look in the mirror and hate myself for entirely different reasons. |

Growing older can be a challenge to confidence in the way you look. It takes a fairly good level of realistic self assessment and acceptance of your changing body. |

Increasingly so. It's baby steps and sure, I'm fat and my body is a work in progress. I'm working on it. But at the same time... I like my face. My chaotic hair. I've spent so long thinking I can only enjoy certain things, do things when I get down to an acceptable weight.
And I've realised that's bollocks. I'm not perfect. But I don't hate the way I look (most of the time). I like seeing my features changing and I think being forty in a few years will really suit me. |

But the way I look? Nope I'm probably about a 6, if I'm done up, my face is fairly adverage looking
my body has had a hard life and it shows, childbearing was most unforgiving on me!
But I'm changing the shape of my body with the help of working out and diet etc, so I'm hoping I'll feel more of a 8/9 in time |

This thread has been a really interesting read for me and has made me think.
Theres lots i would change if i could do so at the snap of a finger, but i find im becoming more comfortable with myself over the last few years. Im pretty happy with how im aging so far, i think i look younger than i should for my age. I would love to be slimmer, especially my tummy and that 2nd chin, but i do enjoy the softness of my body. I spent so much of my life feeling self concious about my imperfections, and thats just exhausting. Im finding it so freeing to be able to start to just relax |

There are bits I would change in regards to my whole appearance.
Yes bigger boobs would be great, longer legs and losing weight all over too. Some I can't do anything about, but others I just can't be bothered to deal with right now. When I feel up to it, I'll start working again on loosing weight and toning up a bit, but there's no rush.
In general though I'm really happy with my life at the moment. My appearance and quiet discontent with it at the moment aren't as important as other things. When that changes, I can work on that 😊 |

Not massively no, I’ve had multiple kids, lost weight, gained weight etc… I’m hitting fast to 40..
but I’m starting to regain my confidence slowly, hitting the “I’m actually not horrid… if someone else don’t like it, that’s their problem” phase 🤷🏻♀️😂

I feel i blossomed when I hit my 40s, but most of that can be be attributed to being more self assured and therefore more confident... There is nothing more attractive than confidence and it shines through in everything you do...

"Not massively no, I’ve had multiple kids, lost weight, gained weight etc… I’m hitting fast to 40..
but I’m starting to regain my confidence slowly, hitting the “I’m actually not horrid… if someone else don’t like it, that’s their problem” phase 🤷🏻♀️😂
"
Magic number is 40!
They say life starts at.... well I can certainly say I do much more in the last 2 years but my body is screaming at me to stop!
I guess you start appreciating how quickly time passes and stop worrying about what others may think.
Live your life all and 🖕 to what anyone thinks.

Mostly, no, I don't, hit 40 and felt great and then started to lose my hair and it all went downhill, but I know it doesn't define me as a person.
The odd day when you dress up sharp and look good, and you get that boost then yes i feel great. |

Embrace it.
I started losing mine in my late 20s. Very slowly my hair got thinner and thinner.
Doesn't seem to bother many people TBH.

"Do you have confidence in your looks? I'm trying to be more comfortable in mine and less harsh on myseld but I just wish I could change my face sometimes
This is a very difficult question "
To answer the very difficult question. I do, and I don't.
I do believe the people who say they find me attractive. There are a select few who I believe, anyway.
My face is alright, I have nice eyes and clear skin but it's often bright red, which I hate. I think my short hair suits me and I like that.
My boobs are saggy but can be made to look decent with some kind of garment. I liked (past tense) my shoulders and arms but the recent period of enforced lack of gym and physical wheelchairing has seen my muscles fade. I want them back!
I hate myself from the waist down. It's a total car crash. Fat, saggy and largely malfunctional.
As I write, my left (worse) lower leg, ankle and foot are hugely swollen and bizarre colours of red and purple. My feet look awful. I can't bear the pain required to shave my legs or bikini line and I don't like how that looks either and am self conscious of people judging me. After all, my legs are front and centre.
A mixed bag! |

As I've just said in another thread, I always thought I was invisible to women but at the same time never really gave much thought to how I looked.
I'm approaching my 60th birthday and it's only in the last 10 years that I've considered my looks and to answer the question, yes I am happy with how I look.
I'm far from perfect and there are things I would change if I could but to be the age I am now and take pleasure in surprising others who think I am in my 40s is definitely a positive. |

As I have got older I am slowly loosing my self confidence in my appearance. Some 1 lied to me a few years ago and told me that "DAD BODS" is what women want.
Now I just say I am built for comfort rather than speed haha |

I think all women have an element of being dissatisfied with their appearance, its a very personal thing. Ive always struggled with self confidence and rarely feel attractive, lingerie and outfits help to feel a bit more sexy but the inner demons are always there. |
Reply privately (closed, thread got too big) | |
Yes. I create and manage myself and change as I want to |

I do think people look at my build before they look at my face though
Being short AND fat for a bloke in this game is a near fatal combo |

I like ^^ lots 👍.
Things I know I have that many people are positively affected by, and some of these need something like "for a 57 year old" in your mind in order to make better sense of them:
Appealing hands and forearms
Intriguing eyes, which change colour a fair amount
Good teeth top (and all there)
Good teeth bottom (and not all there)
Plenty of head hair
Strong shoulders, chest, thighs
Nice chin
Enigmatic, slightly dirty smile
"Confidence" in my carriage
Things I have that I don't find too appealing:
Big, wonky nose
4/5 stone overweight (22 stone)
Increasingly manky toenails
I look "good" at 18 stone, and "very good" at 17 stone (as in athletic, not "bulky" - I seem to lose 2 or 3 stone in my body that others don't, so I'm an athletic 17 stone when others my height are an athletic 14 stone).
However, the last time I was 17 stone (2016) I got too much "positive attention" from others, and I didn't like it. Too many shallow and thick people hitting on me.
So perhaps 19 stone is my comfortable-as-me-and-can-push-shallow-people-away zone, which is 3 stone away from now.
Overall, I'm fairly OK with my looks.
