I am being sarcastic when I describe myself as classy.
I'd get out of the shower to wee, which is quite classy, but if I found a stray jelly baby in my cleavage when I took off my bra I'd definitely eat it - pretty sure there's no etiquette expert in the world who would find that classy.
That's purely theoretical you understand. I've never eaten random sweets discovered in my cleavage. Honest. |

Same. It's trying to conform to a particular norm. One of those concepts that is usually used to insult people, or at least say "you're better than all those others". I'm quite happy sitting with all the others who are deemed to be beneath these stupid standards. |

Classy is a word used to describe people, places or things, that have a lot of "class." But a classy person isn't just someone who wears expensive clothes. Classy can also refer to someone who puts a high standard on the way he behaves. A classy gentleman open doors for ladies.

I think the dictionary definition is more geared towards style and aesthetics.
Generally I see it as having more to do with how a person chooses to conduct themselves.
Doesn't really matter how stylish and sophisticated someone presents as when it turns out they talk down to anyone they consider lower than them 💜 |

I've found those that appear 'classy' often just tend to do their shit-talking behind people's backs rather than to their faces.
But I'd agree it's certainly about conduct, if it's just an image then there's nothing classy in that behaviour to me. |

‘Classy’ can’t exist without dissonance. There has to be difference to create the binary of classy v. not classy. By being “classy” you are separating yourself from others by your classy difference |

I’ve been called this many times on here, but that’s due to people’s reaction to photos.

The meaning itself is never fully present but endlessly deferred. It's only in exploring the play of differences that we can engage in anything meaningful. It arrises in our chain of metaphor.
when I think of classy, I think of poise and timing, elegant execution that emerges from being fully present in the moment. In any given situation. |

Grasping true meaning is impossible due to the vicious semantic cycle that you cannot understand the meaning of an individual word without understanding the words around it forming context but you cannot understand that context without being able to understand the individual words which forming it.
Accordingly, let’s put aside our quest for innate knowledge of definitive and absolute word meaning. Instead we should work from the priori that “classy” stems from our hierarchical class system and is an inherently oppressive and elitist word. Let’s encourage words that promote meritocracy rather than the belief that a person’s value is implicit to and from their familial wealth.

^^ Now that's what I call (rhymes with glass). A complete absence for the need of its baggage.
And the word disappears....and you're left with something very new, that is everything that horrible old word could never quite reach, but was squirming to attain. |

I can't say I've ever met anyone at socials, one to one etc, regardless of gender, that I'd describe as classy.
