Are you someone who reads them all ?
Maybe someone who just picks out, or avoids, certain subject matter ?
Maybe it’s based on who the thread creator was.
Some other reason ? |

The fun games orientated ones get my attention. May comment my opinion on likes and dislike threads, or a recommendation. Nothing too political.. Light hearted threads.. |

I scan based on thread title, then have a look at what the conversation is about. If I can't make a contribution/it's not a subject I have any experience or interest in/or it's not funny to me then I leave it alone. I'd love to get involved in more threads, but it's a time commitment! |

My mood. My libido. Sometimes I avoid certain thread creators.
I quite like genuinely witty ones so more often than not I'll comment on those. I love the more thinky (non-political) threads and creator dependent I'll comment.
I skim read and decide on what to comment. More likely to comment on friends threads but that's because I won't be called a mean girl if someone doesn't understand I'm joking with a friend. |

If its a topic I find interesting or amusing usually. I skim read titles and go from there. There's many I read but don't contribute to. Most of my responses are facetious on the humorous threads but I try and give thoughtful responses to the threads I find thought provoking and interesting.
I am quite a political person and enjoy discussing it outside the fab sphere but it's like smashing your head against a wall on where so I've started to avoid anything too political to avoid the headache 😅 |

What makes me read or contribute to a forum thread??
Honestly it’s varies on my mood or if something gets my attention I have a read and wonder through the thread as I prefer to lurk more..
As for what I post? Hmmm well, I more or less sometimes just post every few months in serious or sometimes weird or light hearted threads never about anything which is related to this site or it’s general discussed main nature..
Sometimes I just post a few things then make an exit and disappear for a while as I do but I still lurk and see what’s going on…
Whether I contribute or not comes down to if what I post is found to be useful or informative to some people I guess or if it’s just weird nonsense ?? |

The politics one I read a lot.
Quite often I want to point a piece of information out but if you do that online it is perceived as patronising/creates conflict.
These types of discussions are much better in person I find. |

I feel the same - I'm politically-engaged and enjoy discussing it, but I don't post in the politics thread because it would just be too much. |

35 threads on page one of the lounge and I've only opened 4 of them, partly because the title doesn't appeal to me and partly because I don't want to give oxygen to some of the posters.
Of those 4 that I have opened and read I have contributed to 3 which is actually a much higher percentage than normal for me.
I usually only comment if the thread is light-hearted but I sometimes get caught in the rabbit hole of challenging stupidity. |

Titles can often be misleading.
I'll open a post and read the OP. If it's interesting and I've something to contribute I will.
Subject matter is irrelevant.
And who the OP is is completely irrelevant to me. |

Whatever grabs my attention and is not confrontational. I don't expect anyone to create threads I like or complain if they don't or wish I brought people back so can make the forums better. As Obi and a few others said on another thread yesterday, in reality very little has changed and certainly forums are usually a little friendlier now. Some feel that makes them boring and thatvis their opinion. Personally, I don't expect anyone to like my threads or join in if not their cup of tea. People come and go all the time. Everyday is different. I can make my own mind as to what I want to post or contribute to. There are some people I will never post on their threads as they are not my cup of tea either. There are some that will never post on mine whatever the topic might be and usually I can guess why and that is fine too. What I am saying really is that the expectations and experiences will always differ for everyone. If I ever hate the place, I know what to do |

100%
Often works.
Sometimes doesn't.
One thing I do like is when someone starts a thread and then continues to contribute, rather than never being seen again.
Makes me wonder if they're just sat back watching any comments or they've just posted to get a reaction. 🤔 |

1. The thread title ( most I pass over )
2. The O.P's name ( based on their historical posting )
3. Something that makes me curious
Occasionally I go right off piste and comment on fucking stupid threads cos that was how I was feeling at the time |

I comment on alot more and delete before posting, than I do actually post!
My choice of what to comment on, most of the time is just for the craic or to contribute to a 'list' type thread.
Many of the deeper, intellectual, more meaningful debates I take too long to ponder and write, and decide not to try and articulate my thoughts (which invariably have already been reflected in earlier posts, and I gave up going, "☝️this" because I just felt like I was being lazy |

I'm normally alone and bored in the evenings and night so tend to read all the posts except the sports ones, but don't post on all.
The posts I comment on will vary depending on how bored, childish and sarcastic I'm feeling.
I'm rubbish at remembering profile names but will remember a profile photo if the person doesn't constantly change it, so the OP of the post doesn't matter to me just the topic.
I am now paying more attention to the second and third pages to see if there has been a post which got overlooked and post on it to give it a second chance.

"I don't comment on "...the person above/below" stuff. "
I get unreasonably annoyed when someone gets missed out on those and then want to make a load of posts so everyone is included but that then ruins the flow of the thread and it all gets very stressful and I have to go off and take a propranolol.
Best for me to just avoid them altogether. |
