Midlife crisis

Is a midlife crisis actually a crisis or is it you just putting yourself first for once?

What would you want to do and what’s stopping you?

Me, I’ve just booked route 66 hiring a Harley for 21 days in July.

That’s not a mid life crisis that’s bucket list level and sounds awesome.

I think what I’m trying to say, probably badly, is whatever you decide to do that others call a supposed crisis, is for me putting yourself first for once

For me I pretty lucky to be able to do things just for myself and nobody else more often than most I guess. In reality not a guy that’s always seeking big adventures or travels in life and find that simple pleasures are the ones that please me the most

That would also be very cool.

"a world cruise if i had the money"

Can think of nothing worse trapped onboard with hundreds of other folk busy filling there faces with 24 hr food and everywhere you visit there are the same 1000 people everywhere you go definitely not for me .

Maybe you are having a midlife crisis after all

It's certainly not been a crisis for me. I'm loving it. It's been something I've looked forward to for a long time .

It's very much about putting myself first, being a little selfish, indulgent and maybe even a little wild. It's also thoroughly deserved.

I have had one since my Twenties !

Still doing stuff I need to do to live life to the full, just sold recently a buell firebolt XB12r. I have had a fatboy Harley some years love riding out especially on my own,

enjoy route 66 when you can find the original route lol but Beware ! But It’s a great experience !

(You will need the 21 days for sure)

Doing things differently when you reach a certain age isn't a crisis in my opinion . It's waking up one day and realising if you don't do certain things on the next few decades you probably never will. Also you stop caring what other people think, if you ever did in the first place and just do stuff you want to do.

Enjoy your trip!

I always hate the "midlife crisis" tag, it's just a way of berating people and stopping them doing something slightly unusual that they might enjoy.

I'd take it as a badge of honour and get out and enjoy yourself!

Yes.

In my early 40s I quit my very sensible senior management position and said goodbye to my final salary pension.

I went to work for a start up in Cambridge that couldn’t even guarantee to pay me every month. Before I quit, I remortgaged for a quarter of a million and brought a brand new BMW just in case it all went wrong. Lots of people in the company I was leaving said I was mad (the main comment was what about the pension !) but I disagreed, I was doing what I wanted to do, not what people expected me to do

If you get chance try route 50 in Nevada too and Death Valley.

Absolutely, it's just putting yourself first for a change.

A roadtrip works for me, maybe a permanent one next time.
