Ailsa and I talk to each other on the phone all the time. Often when one of us is driving, so texts aren’t an option. But I don’t often speak to anyone else on the phone. Occasionally a call for work. Occasionally calls to friends in Scotland and LA, but we don’t speak on a regular basis. Communication has changed as the tech has evolved. |

I only ever call my ex or my children. And they're all for practical reasons (I'm in Sainsburys do you need me to pick anything up?)
Scrolling past all those, I found the last time I'd called someone to talk was April/May 2024. But actually I think that's kind of sad. I love talking on the phone. |

My mum has time to send me 300 reels on Instagram a day but not answer my WhatsApp messages about actual important things I need her to respond to 😂 |

My friend to see how he got on at the dentist. He’s in a lot of pain. I called because I knew he’d be driving and Siri struggles to understand him when he tries to text from the car at the best of times, never mind when he’s got a numb mouth  |

A mate I've not seen in ages phoned me yesterday. Random call out of the blue but I'm always delighted to hear from her and our conversations are always huge fun, so she knows I'll almost always pick up. |
