Don’t you just hate it when you see a hot profile but being a year to old restricts you from saying hi

Honestly no. If I haven't actually conversed with someone then it's just nice photos and I don't give it a second thought.

Nope. Not at all.

If I'm outside their preference we aren't compatible so I just move on.

For me there is no such thing as a hot profile if we haven't chatted or met and confirmed it.

There's a definite cutoff at 50 I've found, especially on the vanilla dating apps.

"There's a definite cutoff at 50 I've found, especially on the vanilla dating apps. "

I'll disagree because I didn't join fab until I was 52 and I've never had a problem meeting people.

Must be me then.

I know it's all about preferences blah, blah, blah, but 45 year old me was able to message say 90% of the local women. Now I've turned 46, it's been more than halved...is there really much difference between a 45 year old and a 46 year old? Not in my eyes, obviously others will strongly disagree with me.

One of the few reasons I don't mind getting older. Turning 30 this year is gonna hit like crack

That's my point as well. 50 for me was a total drop-off. It really was a watershed.

I'm not sure I see the correlation between not being able to message everyone and not being able to meet anyone.

The only time it has been frustrating has been when I've been chatting to people in clubs and they've asked me to add them or message them, but I'm either too young or old for their filters and I'm then left worrying that they'll think I'm being funny with them

So you'd be happy for someone of 76 to contact you then?

I get the point of both. Though comparing a years difference to 30 year age gap is a tad different.

I'm still holding out for Sophia Loren. She's only 90 though so I have some margin.

Well I've got to set the limit at some point. I know those who set their restrictions at 18-99 also get a bit of stick.76 would be fine, for conversation. 😁

There are enough people on here looking for someone my age that I'm not going to fret about someone who isn't.

That said, it's not been a massive issue for me because I tend to look at partners close to my age. I suspect if I was looking for someone of a vastly different age to me my options might be more limited, but I'd still focus on meeting people who wanted to meet me.

I'm going to ask with my tongue firmly in my cheek

There's not much difference between 75 and 76...is there? 🤔😉

if my upper age limit is 45, 46 year olds will say ‘what’s the difference between 45 and 46’ so I’ll change it to 46 then it will be ‘what’s the difference between 46 and 47’ so I’ll change it to 47 then it will be ‘what’s the difference between 47 and 48’ and so on so forth. You need to a cut off at some point

Most people have a specific reason for choosing a cut of point and they aren't just random numbers.

For example my daughters are in their 30s so I have chosen not to meet or chat to anyone within 10 years of their ages and as a result my lower age filter is adjusted every year to keep that buffer.

That means 43 might seem an strange number to some but not to me.

I'm not missing out on anyone below that age because I'm simply not interested regardless of how they look or how hot/mature/intelligent they or others may think they are.

I feel like maybe 60s things open up again?

But 50 felt like a brick wall.

It's very annoying at times and people never move it on a year as they get older.

Nope.

If they don't want contact from people my age I just move along. I'm not owed an audience just because I think someone is hot 💜

"You need to a cut off at some point"

And it’s an arbitrary upper limit.

I always feel it’s probably for a bit of padding in it for especially hot 45yr olds, and so what’s really meant is 40.

So there’s no point arguing it, imo. You’re not compatible.

I wasn't comparing the two.

I said 75 and 76 because at the time of writing the person I was replying to has 75 as his upper age limit.

They don't. All you hear is the deafening sound of age limits clanging shut.

In all honesty people in their sixties are in general much less physically attractive than people in their 40s and 50s so 🤷‍♀️

Heartbreaking 💔

I'm not surprised people leave the age limit as 18-99.
