Don't call me Sir, I work for a living
Jump to: Newest in thread
Apart from our NCO's (IYKYK) , do you consider what you do as a job (I hate being asked what I do for a "living"; eat, drink and shit like every other living thing) as work?
Got into this with a friend who's an academic and she was left feeling I don't consider her job as work.
Our are you one of the lucky few who "do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life?" |

I am blessed to absolutely love what I do.
It is still work, and I get compensated accordingly. Much as I enjoy myself, if the company stopped paying me I would up sticks and do it somewhere else, for someone else. |

I love my job ❤️🩹
It is really hard and some things (and people 😂😂😂) that come with it I don’t love at all… but the job itself I love, more importantly, the things it gives me as a reward besides a salary are incredible and make it all worthwhile. ❤️🩹

Mine is very much just a job. I need to pay my bills. I don't love it, it's not a vocation, it's a means to and ends.
I recently spent a lot of time and energy studying for a qualification I should use to find a job I actually do enjoy. But I am complacent in my current role. |

I always half-joke I've never had a "proper job" but technically I haven't. I've never worked for an employer doing a 9 to 5 type job, never even had a paper round or bar work or anything. I've always been completely self-employed since I was 18 doing one of my main hobbies and have always worked in and around promotions and logistics in the music/entertainment industry. |

I am not entirely sure what work is. There are a bunch of things I work hard at that earn me money. There are a bunch of things I work equally hard at that don’t earn me money.
I tend to do things I enjoy (paid or unpaid) but I also have to do things that I don’t always enjoy (paid or unpaid) as well.
Overall I am happy with how I spend my time so I guess that means that work is not really work for me. |

It was never just a job for me even when I was doing fairly low paid manual work I loved it. I would only work for companies and bosses I respected and that had good values
later on, I’ve got to do some quite impactful projects around the world and that was the driver. The money was like an added extra.
Now I do the odd day paid work when people ask very nicely and quite a bit of unpaid |
