When you get time off from work do you plan what to do or just go with whatever at the time

I used to love going to the travel agent the day before I wanted to go away and find a deal to somewhere

I try and plan to a point as I don’t like what I feel is wasting time off

I always think I’ll be organised and do something with my time off but often I just slob as work has been insanely busy. But I’m gonna do better this year and actually plan time off and do stuff.

We haven’t had any proper time off together in nearly five years 😔 One of us is always working, or Ailsa has had deadlines for course work. Hopefully at the end of this year life can start again… and then we may well just walk into a travel agent and say, ‘Get us outta here!’

Having a list is a great idea. I’m thinking to take a week off soon and determined to do something with it other than Netflix and a boozy lunch with bestie!

I tend to plan a list of 'shit that needs done', prioritise and order for the most efficient completion of said list ...then stay in bed juggling my balls for an hour, get up, and make "just this one brew before I start" last for four/five hours while watching movies I've seen a dozen times before

Mr only takes time off when we have plans, so we definitely enjoy our time off together and don't waste it by doing nothing. We look ahead and make plans in the future and organise the time off around our plans.

Not really. I have 2 children and 3 dogs so if we go anywhere it is UK based as can’t imagine kennel costs!

My youngest has autism and I don’t think he would manage the plane due to the ear pressure/pain.

I like to take each day as it comes, see how we all feel on the day (because with time off work/School there is usually a cold or something waiting to show up) and just have days out wherever we fancy. That said my youngest’s safe space is home, and if he gets overwhelmed when out he just wants to go home again.

Local adventures are much more manageable.

I do miss my younger years of holidays abroad but been there, done that. Times have changed.

Brum - ish

A mix. If I’m going away, I like to book in advance, get decent deals and research stuff to do, buy tickets etc.

But I also need quiet time away from work doing nothing and on those I might plan a couple of things but will go with the flow - whatever helps me to wind down and relax.

Usually I have a reason to take the time off. Visiting friends, going to events, doing work that's going to take more than a day. Other than that I don't make plans. When I do they have a tendency to get fucked up in some way.
