BRIDPORT

That’s sad to hear, I believe he had been fighting prostate cancer.

The sport could do with more characters like him, not fewer.

Yeah , I looked him up and that explains why I've never heard of him ...... I never give a nano second to car racing - just don't see the attraction.

Eddie Jordan was one of that rare breed in F1. Like Jack Brabham, Ken Tyrell, Bruce Mc Laren, Colin Chapman and Frank Williams he started and ran his own F1 team. Even then, that was no mean feat. For Jordan, it would have been even more difficult because when he started started, F1 was already a multi million pound undertaking. Although he never won the constructors title, he came very very close.

RIP.

glasgow-ish

I think there’s the two things, as a team owner/principal and as a commentator.

Certainly made F1 interesting in 90s and gave quite a few young drivers a chance.

Let's not forget he was the man to give Michael Schumacher his debut in an f1 seat in 1991 when he started Jordan grand prix team.

Even although he eventually had to sell the team in I think 03/04 ish. We also can't ignore that even after multiple sell ons since then. Eddie basically laid the foundations for what is now Aston Martin f1 team.

He was a character that I was fortunate enough to meet in 2022. Absolute gentleman and a stalwart within the sport.

He will be sadly missed. If not by every fan of the sport. By myself at the very least.

Absolute legend of a man. 😪
