I do more "weekend breaks" rather than fully-blown holidays, and try to have those once a month or so. The next one is booked for Easter- two nights in a beautiful little cottage half way between Chesterfield and Matlock. It has been booked since we visited for the first time last year, as you don't find such a gem very often. It's also very near my "therapy centre", Crich Tramway Village |

I’m not that interested to be honest. Still all flown out even though I haven’t set foot on a plane in over 4 months.
Not that many places left for me to see either 😝
If it weren’t a 12 hour flight, I’d go to Puerto Vallarta in Mexico.
Barbados would be nice too. |

I was hoping to get away somewhere with a friend in the autumn to celebrate 20 years of friendship but the rising cost of living as a single person living alone is fucking killing me, so I think it will be another year where the luxury of a holiday will have to wait |

Exactly the same here, living alone is great but bloody expensive right now. I may squeeze a 7 nighter in later in the year though if a bargain comes up. |

Guys if you like the heat and don’t want a beach Seville is very inexpensive during July and August. It is bloody hot though. |

Seville is on my list of places to visit, but I've done the south of Spain in August and it almost killed me. I'm not built for that heat I love Spain though, I've done quite a few holidays to various cities and a couple of beach resorts. Thank you for the tip. |

I doubt if i will manage to get away on holiday again this year.
Being a single traveller you either get hit hard when it comes to prices(almost the same price for two travellers) or as soon as you tick '1 person' suddenly there's no availability. |

Seville is nice. Also live on my own with a toddler so EVERYTHING is expensive! North Macedonia - Lake Ohrid? Beautiful and really cheap even in July/August. Those ex Yugoslavian countries all very reasonable. |

Good shout on those, I did Hungary one year which was so cheap, I did the second city which wasn't touristy at all, an amazing place with great weather during the summer months. |

Have you tried island hopping in Greece? Accommodation can be cheap, not in August though, and the ferries are great. Overnight ferries cut out a nights accommodation and that way you will cover a lot of the country. |

Potentially looked at Gdansk as we did Krakow a few years ago and loved it, and Poland is relatively cheap compared to much of Western Europe. I'll have to see how the summer goes. There are quite a few places in Eastern Europe in my list to visit. I much prefer a city break over a beach one. |

I think it'll be another year where I probably don't have a holiday but the reason for it makes me happy so it sort of balances out.
I know where I'll go the moment I can though and that is help propelling me forward. |

I’m working my way through Spanish cities just now. I’ve done about 13 in the last couple of years. I travel between them by bus or train. |

"We're having a short break in the Netherlands next week."
Ooh, we can't wait to go back there. It's the only place abroad Mr has been to! That was back in 2019 He SO deserves another by now.
I'd like to go back to Greece. It's gorgeous, and the food was just *Chef's kiss* but I don't do too well in the sun/heat 🫣 so maybe in a cooler month than the twice I've been in Summer! |

One, yes. It's not a holiday holiday as such. More of a "staycation" (apologies for using that term).
The other three currently have multiple tabs open for them (two abroad, one UK based). I'm giving myself until the end of the month to get them sorted. Hopefully. |

Not booked anything yet but my friends and I are thinking of Porto in October. And before that, I was going to book a solo trip to Krakow for 3 days but need to book that too. Really should get that done 😅 |

"Wales in May (I know… hold my suncream), Cyprus in July, wild camping Scotland in August… for now. To be added to 😁
August is the high season for our other national animal, the midge. "
It is indeedy. Normally don't bother me though (now I’ve said that…😩) |

I'm off for a short break to Butlins Bognor next week with my son and grandson. Then September meeting my mum and stepdad in Spain then driving back through to France where they live for 2 weeks as always |

I know people who swear by washing with Lemon Source shower gel then Skin so Soft by Avon. Oh and a hat with a midfielder net. |

I already had what I thought might be my only holiday this year - I did a week's cultural tour around Greece in February.
Finally starting a new job in a couple of weeks after 9 months out of work, so once I've had my first pay I shall look at booking another trip for later this year. |

I've not had a passport for 27 years. Just renewed it. It arrived on the Monday, started planning the holiday for this Aug. Then within a week, "life" got in the way, now it's bumped over to August 2026. |

[If it weren’t a 12 hour flight, I’d go to Puerto Vallarta in Mexico.]
I had a great time, excepting disco until vibrating the hotel and local community until 5 am, and teenagers offering me a 'special massage' on the beach, in the lift, in La Comer Fluvial.
Seriously, pick and choose. There are alternatives. I don't enjoy sleep deprivation. |

I like that cultural tour. I did Athens for the archeological sites.
But I just get a map, cheap hotel and walked for 12 hours a day.
Married now though. |

"Why? What problem did you experience?"
I am very interested in history so I went for that. I hated being in Egypt though because I hate Egyptian people.
I think Egypt is wrongly marketed to tourists. Asif it's a friendly safe place when it's very dangerous and full of scams and dick heads.
Put it this way.
I can walk down the road in daylight in Nigeria and a % of people will try to hustle you but the majority won't.
But if you go walk in Egypt every single person is trying to scam you. You can't retreat to you're tour guide or the all inclusive staff, or the authorities....every single one of them is a dodgy prick.
You get grabbed by creepy gay Egyptians and they try dragging you into their shops then shutting the doors on you.
If you stop at a service station in the desert and ask "how much is this coca cola" they say "$10"
The best way to treat them is Asif you are a colonial British lord and they are just serfs/peasants to be criticized.
If you show them any respect they just take you're kindness for weakness.
They litter everywhere, they don't clean anything, there are dead cats in the Nile and they abuse animals for fun...
Nigeria is the worse sub Saharan example I can give you but the people there are far better and more civilized and friendly than Egyptians.
My advice is stay in you're group/hotel....don't tip any of them (it only encourages them)
Consider it a once in a lifetime adventure to see amazing archeology. But be careful because Egyptians are the worse people in the world. |

I don't think Egypt is marketed as safe nowdays. The FCO advises against travel for a big chunk of it. Sure, there's the "how many camels for her?" type questions which are admittedly tiring esp if you're there for a period of time but overall I really liked people there. I studied in Hurghada for a few months and traveled around and didn't find it troublesome. |
