Birstall

I'm listening to music (as always) and listening to a Brian Eno song called An Ending (Ascent) which i love but it always makes me feel so sad and sometimes i just can't listen to it all. There are other songs that make me feel so happy such as Have a Nice Day by the Stereophonics.

Are there any songs that make you feel sad or happy or any other emotion ?

A song that always hits me in the feels is the unplugged version of "Down in a Hole" from Alice in Chains.

An addict in the depths of dispair and knowing that he isn't going to make it out.

After a bad accident I was addicted to sleeping pills, pain meds and many other things. I'm 12 years clean now but know only for the fact that I had the right people around me I would have ended up down in that whole too.

The Deep Dark Woods

That's a beautiful song! I find a lot of ambient post-rock brings out the feelings for me.

Sigur Ros, Mogwai, Explosions In The Sky, Godspeed You Black Emperor, NIN and Aphex Twin's ambient instrumental tracks, the whole Radiohead In Rainbows album. Hans Zimmer has a few tracks that always get me in the feels.

Brian Eno (for me) is an audio painter rather than musician/song writer. Listening to his work will resonate differently depending on your emotional mood in the moment. If that makes sense.

It's a Secret

I have 3 songs in mind that bring back sad memories. Wrecked by Imagine Dragons and a couple by Snow Patrol - Set the fire to the third bar and Beginning.

I first found these songs at times when the lyrics just fitted the situations I was in.

The saddest song I know is I Get Along Without You Very Well by Nina Simone, but at the right time it's also reassuring.

Wires by Athlete was the song I heard on the radio leaving my preemie son at the hospital when I was discharged and he had to stay for many more weeks. It hits hard every time

So many songs for so many people or places but a definite mood change for me is James blunt.. love all his songs but can’t listen to him for too long

I also have some classical pieces I adore when I need to switch off from noise and people
