I think I used to be really good at flirting.
Knowing subtle clues and signs of what to say etc but now I have no idea.
I think the biggest thing is I have lost confidence.
Anyway what does flirting look like for you?
Has your "style" changed over the years...
Do you think social norms and internet has changed flirting?
Do you flirt with everyone or do you target so to speak?
I'm keen to share our flirtatious behaviours xxx |

In person you mean?
If someone is flirting with me (they have to make it very obvious otherwise it passes me by) and I like them, I will flirt back, but I’d say my flirt style is a little reserved, especially in public… strong eye contact and a bit giggly.
However, it’s rare that anyone flirts with me ☹️ |

Yeah I was meaning in public. It's so difficult to get the balance now a day's for me.

I know when I’m flirting with intention. I know when I just flirt for fun, and having a laugh. I know when I’m direct with my sexy chat and cut the flirting out and go for the downright filthy whisper into her ear.

In the sense that a higher proportion of people meet online first, yes flirting has changed.
Many of our first flirtations and escapades used to be on nights out with friends, as we get older those nights out get less and friends pair off so those opportunities become less.
Many things like the wolf whistle and dodgy chat up lines have been outlawed, women are more self sufficient and men more wary.
I'm a terrible flirt if in the mood, typically the ones I fancy don't fancy me and vice versa though 😂 |

Yeah, unfortunately it's turned to dick pics and words inappropriate for a 1st meeting, people think because it's online that there's nothing wrong with introducing themselves genitals 1st with a full blown account of what "they" want to do to some body they haven't even seen the face of or had conversation with, apparently we are supposed to find that flattering too.
I dread the day my daughter is old enough for online dating/flirting which is really just flashing and creeps. |

Unfortunately a fine line has been drawn between what you can and can’t say. Especially if you are a man, attempting to flirt with a woman. People my age need to be especially careful not to say the wrong thing.
I would draw the line against flirting with people who are much younger, as I don’t want to appear like some old letch, and creep anyone out.
As for the things you can’t say to a total stranger? Anything of a personal or even semi sexual nature. You can’t just amble alongside a woman in the street or down the pub, and say, hi there, you have a lovely bum, nice legs etc. At the very least you will be told to do one, you could get yourself slapped, and in some instances you could be breaking the law.
I would personally never start flirting with anyone, unless they began flirting with me. Even then I would be careful, because there are things going on that I don’t know about. Some words are now offensive, and don’t get me started on pronouns!
Fortunately in a place like Fab, not so many people are weaponising their sex or sexuality. I’d still be careful though… |

I'm person not really, if it's there it just comes through in conversation and always has.
Online, well I was here before online flirting was a thing, so by default - yes.
I've always taken most things online with a pinch of salt. I don't really get online flirting, I want the full sensory data, not just words and emojis. It can be light-hearted playful fun, but not much more than that for me. An indicator of possible interest. |

I think I'm pretty obvious with my flirts, but I'm also wondering if the ISO Standard for flirting has been moved up a notch as more people become oblivious to it. Which effectively means that I need to up my flirting game, veering towards the "woo'ing" phase.

This doesn't relate to the recent eye thread but I mentioned it on another similar one a while ago. I had an hour long prescription eye test, we came out and the woman chatting to her friend behind the counter said 'you've got really beautiful eyes', crossed her legs, crossed her eyes and stuck her tongue out of the side of her mouth.
I was stood there like, (wft), that's different, she looked darlin doing it, I don't really know if she was flirting all I was thinking was how much it cost but I didn't even think to say I bet you say that everyone it was that qucik. |

Definitely a grey area now as to understanding and interpretation of any signals As others have elude online dating & hook-up site has changedthe landscape...usually when out its subtle but starts with those looks and glances, most know how to do that....

I LOVE a good flirt although these days I guess people call it more "banter" than flirting? Maybe I'm wrong.

Styles and habits change, as do your tastes and interests. But if you're feeling it's a confidence thing, then take small steps to rebuild yours . Nothing huge or challenging just consistent small steps that are achievable and meaningful.
